April Favorites 2014!!

Hello Everyone!

Disclaimer:
My apologies for the missing pictures. My pictures were accidentally deleted off my blog. Please Refer to my Instagram account miss_pilar to view the pictures (or some of the pictures) that were deleted.

I haven't done a monthly favorites since January, so I wanted to write one for April :)

1. Avon Lip Liner in Plum and Avon Color Lipstick in Dream Fuchsia

This is one of my favorite Lipsticks. It has a soft lavender color that's perfect for Spring and the liner really makes the color pop.

2. MAC Saint Germain Lipstick

I just got this lipstick not too long ago, and it has become one of my favorite lipsticks ever since! I love the bright pink color. This is another lipstick that's great for Spring and Summer!

3. Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Strengthener and Sinful Colors Professional in Pinky Glitter

Sally Hansen is my go to product for nail strengthener. I use this on my nails quite often. Pinky Glitter is so pretty! I've used this a couple of times this month with various manicures.

4. Avon Clear Skin Blemish Clear Acne Body Wash, Victoria's Secret Foaming Body Wash and Shaving Gel in Love Spell, and Cetaphil Gentle Cleansing Bar

Both the Avon body wash and Cetaphil Soap work wonders on my skin for acne issues and blemishes. I've had a little back acne this month and both products help eliminate the issue. The wonderful thing about the Cetaphil Soap is that it's a multipurpose soap. This soap has helped keep my face clear of small acne and blemishes as well. I also use it while showering. I think the reason VS Foaming Body Wash and Shaving Gel made this list is due to the fondness I have for Love Spell. It works ok I use it more a body wash rather than a shaving gel. I'm glad I got this on sale because I can't see myself paying $14.00 for this.

5. Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula

To keep my skin clear I use this cocoa butter after showers or baths at night. This works well for me to clear any blemishes and keeping my skin soft. It smells great,  but the only thing about this product is that if you use too much it can leave your skin feeling greasy lol.

6. BH Cosmetics 120 Palette 1st Edition

This palette is great! I love that it has so many pigmented colors to choose from. I've actually been using this palette a lot since February.

What are some of your favorite products for April?

Spring Into Beauty Haul Part 2: Nail Polish

Hello Everyone!

My apologies for the missing pictures. My pictures were accidentally deleted off my blog. Please Refer to my Instagram account miss_pilar to view the pictures (or some of the pictures) that were deleted.

I’m back with the second part of my Spring Into Beauty Haul. I have nail polish to review for this post. You can view my first haul here

If you keep up with my blog, you already know I have an obsession with nail polish lol I’m constantly changing my manicures and taking care of my nails. Today I want to share my thoughts on two brands that I’ve been using.

Pure Ice Nail Polish

My Thoughts

First off, this a great brand of polish. I simply have no complaints for this one. If you like sparkle, glitter and metallic colors I would definitely recommend you try Pure Ice. These colors are so beautiful. This polish doesn’t chip much I wore my manicure for almost a week (6 days) and I didn’t have any chipping. Quite impressive I must admit! The nail polish isn’t thick upon applying on my nails which is also a plus. I can’t stand thick nail polishes. My nails didn’t take to long to dry, I guess it all depends on how many coats you’re going to apply (I applied two coats). I’m unsure of the stores Pure Ice is sold, but I purchased mine at Walmart for $1.97 each. Overall, this is a hit for me, I’m glad I happened to come across these nail polishes!

BH Cosmetics Nail Polish

Flirty Collection

Mystery Collection

My Thoughts

I got these a few weeks ago when BH Cosmetics had an awesome sale on their fingernail polishes. I just purchased both. The Flirty Collection are colors that are great for Spring and the Mystery Collections have a great selection of darker colors. The quality of these polishes are quite impressive too. I wore Calm for almost a full week without any chipping. I've noticed that these bottles are a slightly smaller than regular sized polishes. I hope in the future BH Cosmetics come out with more colors and collections.

Sinful Colors Professional

I wrote a review about these polishes in the past. To read my full review, click here

Manicure Monday: Purple Ombre Nails (With A Tutorial) My 100th post :)

Hello Everyone!

Disclaimer:
My apologies for the missing pictures. My pictures were accidentally deleted off my blog. Please Refer to my Instagram account miss_pilar to view the pictures (or some of the pictures) that were deleted.

For today's Manicure Monday I did purple ombre nails. I've wanted to try to these for the longest, so I gave it an attempt finally. To get this look, I wanted to share my tutorial on how I did my nails. (They're are various ways to achieve ombre nails, this is just how I did mine)

Materials

-Clear nail polish
-White nail polish
-2 or 3 nail polishes of your choice
-Cosmetic Sponge
-Sissors
-Spray Bottle with water (optional) or water
-Nail polish remover
-Q-Tips or Flat eyeliner brush
-Paper towels

Instructions

1. Place a base coat on your nails

2. Now polish your nails white (1 or 2 coats your choice)

3. After you let your nails dry, cut the cosmetic sponge to the length of your nail.

4. Wet the sponge slightly (drain any water) and coat thin layers of your desired polish. For these ombre nails, I just used 2 colors

5. Press the sponge on the first nail (I started with my thumb) and keep dabbing until you get an ombre effect. Side Note: This is the step that can get messy.

6. While your nails are still wet, place a top coat of clear polish on your nail and let dry.

7. Take a Q-Tip or a flat eyeliner brush and clean any remaining polish around your nails

Now your finished :) I hope that my written tutorial helped you achieve the ombre look you desire

Side Note: This is my 100th post :)

Lorac Pro Palette Review and FOTD

Hello Everyone!

Disclaimer:
My apologies for the missing pictures. My pictures were accidentally deleted off my blog. Please Refer to my Instagram account miss_pilar to view the pictures (or some of the pictures) that were deleted.

I wanted to write a review for the Lorac Pro Palette since I got it a few months ago, so let’s get started!

Apperance

- This palette comes in a sleek, smooth cardboard case with a magnetic closing that’s easy to store

-Decent size mirror

- 16 beautiful shades that include 8 matte (top row) and 8 shimmer (bottom row) finishes

Put pic of the two rows of shadows

- Lorac Mini Eyeshadow Primer

- No eyeshadow brush included

My Thoughts

I adore this palette!! After having the Lorac Pro Palette for a few months, it has quickly become one of my favorites! The shadows have little fallout and the shadows apply smoothly on my eyelids etc. This palette reminds me of the original Naked palette by Urban Decay in terms of the similar colors and matte and shimmer finishes. This palette is great for day and night time eye makeup looks (that’s an important factor to me, eyeshadows palettes I can use everyday) The only con I have is that there is no eyeshadow brush included. Overall I’m very pleased with my Lorac Pro Palette.

FOTD: Easy Neutral Look

Since it's pretty warm outside today I wanted to do a quick and simple natural makeup look

Items Used:

Eyes: Lorac Pro Palette
- Crease: Taupe
- Browbone: Cream
- Lid: Nude
- Clinque Mini Mascara

Face:
- Fashion Fair Pressed Powder
- Fashion Fair Foundation Stick

Lips:
- Avon Color Lipstick In Dream Fuchsia
- Avon Lip Liner in Plum

Coping With Stress

Hello Everyone!

The topic of my post today is all about stress. We’ve all endured stress at some point. Some stress is actually supposed to be healthy for you, but for the most part stress can be unpleasant. I felt this would be a perfect topic to discuss since I have been dealing with my own personal stress of coping with my father's death recently.
Here are ways I try to cope with stress

1. What is Causing Your Stress?

I think in order to reduce your stress, you have to know what’s causing.

2. Finding A Balance

Are you overwhelming yourself with multiple daily tasks or do you feel overwhelmed by daily tasks? If so, you probably need to find a balance with daily activities and responsibilities in your life. I try to prioritize the more important elements versus the least important elements in my life. By doing this I keep things in perspective. Remember, your only one person and you can’t do everything or be everywhere all at once. Try not to exhaust yourself.

3. Get Rest

Ok, I don’t want to be a hyprocrite lol since I struggle with this tip. I’m working on getting more rest and sleep this year. I find that lack of rest and sleep can really equal a cranky mood. I know it can difficult to get rest you’re stressed, but you should also find a balance with your rest and sleep patterns just like you would with any other daily activities.

4. Have a Support System/Keep a Journal

When I’m feeling stressed, I try to talk about what is bothering me with people in my life I know who are there for me :) I don’t always discuss everything that’s bothering me, but venting does help me feel better. If you’re not a person who likes talking about your feelings, with a friend, family member, counselor etc, you could try writing down in a journal. It’s not really healthy to keep your feeling bottled up, and besides it will likely add to your stress.

5. Take Time For Yourself

This is one of my favorite things to do when I need to de-stress. I usually take a bubble bath, watch some of my favorite DVD's or TV shows, or my favorite thing of all...RETAIL THERAPY!!! When I do a little retail therapy, I don't go overboard. I make a budget I before I go shopping and I try not to overspend. Oh the joys of shopping!

There are various healthy ways to de-stress, just make sure you find some joy it. I hope my coping with stress tips help! How do you cope with stress?
