BH Cosmetics Missy Lynn Eyeshadow & Baked Highlighter Palette Review and Swatches

Hello Everyone!

Last week I decided to use a gift card I had from BH Cosmetics to purchase the Missy Lynn Eyeshadow & Highlighter Palette. I'm going to get straight to the point before I get into a full review, I absolutely love this palette!

Missy Lynn is a YouTube Beauty Guru (Start2FinishMUA) and active duty member of the U.S. Air Force and she collaborated with BH Cosmetics earlier this year to release this palette.

How gorgeous are these shades?! The shades in this palette include satin, shimmer, and matte. There are also two baked highlighters that can be can be used as eyeshadow as well.

Pros

- Budget Friendly $14.95 (I only paid $10.00 with my gift card during a sale)
- Can fit easily inside my purse
- Highly pigmented shades
- Mirror inside palette
- Shades blend very well
- Shadows wear most of the day
- No creasing

Cons

- No transition color

My Thoughts

I'm so glad I decided to get this palette. I really like how the baked highlighters can be used on the face or as an eyeshadow. I can see why some people who reviewed this palette decided to get two of these limited edition palettes because it's a great palette. I really can see myself getting good use out of this palette during the summer and  during holiday season because of all the sparkle and shimmer shades. However, this palette is good to use anytime during year.

Bath and Body Works SAS Haul (Summer 2015)

Hello Everyone!

So as most of you know it's that lovely time of year when the Semi Annual sale is going on at Bath and Body Works. All the candles are a gift from my mom a few weeks ago (except Peach Bellini) I love my mom :)

The candles my mom got me :)

1. Summer Boardwalk

- Bath and Body Works Description: A summertime treat-caramel-glazed popcorn, warm taffy-apples & salted, sweet cream.

- My Thoughts: This candle smells so good. It does have a Summery type scent that reminds me of  being outside. I smell sweet cream and caramel popcorn the most on a cold sniff. The throw has a syrupy type smell is simply amazing and very strong. I can smell the throw throughout the whole house and the scent lasted for two days!

2. Vanilla Bean Marshmallow

- Bath and Body Works Description: A comforting vanilla fragrance that evokes the sweetness of a homemade marshmallow

- My Thoughts: If you like Merry Cookie, then you may like Vanilla Bean Marshmallow as well. This is like a cousin candle to Merry Cookie lol. The throw isn't as strong, but it can fill a room quickly with a sweet vanilla scent.

3. American Apple

- Bath and Body Works Description: An All-American blend of juicy red apple, white oak & pear blossom.

- My Thoughts: This candle smells semi sweet. I smell more of a refreshing crisp apple scent. I really like this scent and the throw is pretty good.

4. Peach Bellini

- Bath and Body Works Description: A shimmering blend of white peach, sweet orange peel, yellow mandarin & jasmine with a pop of sweet blackcurrant

- My Thoughts: This candles smells like a very sweet peach in a jar. This has become on of my favorites candles. I also smell hints of orange, but mainly a sweet peach is what I smell. One of my friends got me this as a housewarming gift, but I wanted to include Peach Bellini since she purchased some candles for during the SAS

Here are all the candles together

Did you get anything from the Bath and Body Works SAS?

Depression Awareness: What Depression Feels Like

Hello Everyone!

I'm here to share another depression awareness post. My focus today deals with what depression feels like. Depression varies from person to person, but here are some of the things I've dealt with.

1. Staying in bed

People may look at depression as an excuse to stay in bed, but if you have dealt with depression you probably have an idea of what I'm talking about. I remember near the end of my Senior year in college, I would go to Spanish class in the morning and skipped all my other classes for a whole week. I would come back take a shower and stay in bed all day with the blinds closed. I guess I'm grateful for always doing pretty well academically in school because I would have probably been in a mess if I would've fell behind in my classes. Thankfully that never happened.

2. Trying to achieve what comes naturally to some people...happiness

I would be lying if I said sometimes it's a struggle to be happy especially if I'm feeling depressed. It's hard to focus on being happy especially if I'm going through something. When I feel like that, I just remember that the sadness I feel is not going to last always.

3. Feeling like no one understands

I think people can relate to the feeling of no one understands what they're going through. Well the reality is that sometimes people aren't going to understand what you're going through unless they've been through the same thing or a similar situation.

4. It's Not Fair that I Have Depression

During the times I feel or felt sad, I sometimes feel it's so unfair I have depression because of the frustration I feel/felt.

5. Knowing There's Hope

There is a silver lining because there is hope for dealing with depression. Like I mentioned in my earlier depression awareness posts, there are options that can help you cope with your feelings that vary from therapy, antidepressants etc.

BH Cosmetics 10 Color Glamorous Blush Palette Review

Hello Everyone!

Disclaimer:
My apologies for the missing pictures. My pictures were accidentally deleted off my blog. Please Refer to my Instagram account miss_pilar to view the pictures that were deleted.

I'm not really big on wearing blush, but I do like wearing it for special occasions or at random. Today I want to share my thoughts on this blush palette from BH Cosmetics.

This palette consists of matte and shimmer colors. My favorite shades are the matte shades because they tend to wear longer. Don't get me wrong, the shimmery shades are gorgeous, but some of these shades lack pigmentation. My two favorite are
Matte: top row, Pink
Shimmer: bottom row, Bronze

Top Row Swatches

Here a selfie I posted a while back on Instagram using the Pink shade that I really like.

Bottom Row Swatches

Overall I think this is a good inexpensive blush palette to have in a makeup collection. This palette has basic colors typically used for blush and then some. These shades wear well. I haven't noticed much fading throughout the day. The main issues is the lack of pigmentation with some of the colors when applying. I purchased this last year during a sale, so if you want this palette check their website for the current price (they have various sales throughout the week)

It's Not Failure

Hello Everyone!

I guess you all must be wondering what in the world I'm talking about when based on the title today's post. Today I want to focus on things you attempt to accomplish, but you may not finish what you sought out to do.

I've always been a believer that everything happens for a reason. Sometimes things are just not meant to be. I notice that usually when I seek out to do something that doesn't go as planned, there's something better waiting for me in the future.

I think many people can agree with me that failure is one the worst things to deal with in life. Feeling like you failed something can be a set back, but I try to not to dwell on the negative.

So next time you think you're failing at something, look at it in a different light. There is something better out there that you're going to accomplish.

Maybelline The Smokes and The Brights Palettes Review Ft. Makeup Looks

Hello Everyone!

Now that I finally got my hands on Maybelline's The Smokes and The Brights Palettes (thanks to my friend Ashley), I can write a review about them. I was pretty excited when I saw Maybelline came out with these palettes.

Since I really like Maybelline eyeshadow in general, I wanted to add these palettes to my collection. Before I start my review I recommend that if you have these palettes, to use NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk or NYX Eyeshadow Base in White for your eyeshadow primer.

1. Maybelline The Smokes

- Can be difficult to find in stores

- Fashion Fair Fast Finish. Foundation Stick (Topaz) I only used foundation, no face powder

* Lips *

- Nivea Lip Balm

My Thoughts

I love this palette! As you can see from my cons list, I had nothing negative to say about the shadows in the palette. Maybelline did an amazing job with this palette. The colors in The Smokes Palette are very easy to apply and the colors blend well. I also noticed that throughout the day the colors didn't fade or crease which is also a major plus! Out of the new palettes I have from Maybelline, this one is my favorite so far!

2. Maybelline The Brights

These eyeshadows are swatched with NYX
Eyeshadow Base in White

Pros
- Budget friendly (about $10.00)
- Beautiful bright shades in matte and shimmer
- Blends decently
- No creasing
- Travel friendly
- Minimal fallout

Cons
- No Mirror
- Sponge application brush isn't all that good
- Some colors are difficult to apply
- Some colors lack pigmentation
- Color tends to fade quicker
- Can be difficult to find in stores

- MAC Yield to Love (Creamsheen) LE

My Thoughts

First I want to start with the pigmentation. The colors are gorgeous, but to get the colors to really pop you must use a good white eyeshadow primer. Some of the colors are a little stubborn, but I'm not one to give up on something without a fight lol. For example, with the green I used in the tear duct for my FOTD that color was really stubborn even with using my NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk. I really had to pack on the color to make it show. I noticed about after 3 hours my eyemakeup was starting to fade slightly. I think this is one of those palettes that you have to work and have patience with it. Maybelline did a so so job with this palette. I think some of the colors could have more pigmentation to help with lasting longer. I think that this palette is worth giving a try!

Housewarming Gifts, Package in the Mail, and Freebies

Hello Everyone!

Some of you may remember that I just moved about two months ago. Two of my friends decided to get me housewarming gifts. Thanks again ladies for the lovely gifts!

Side Note you may have seen these items already if you follow me on Instagram and Facebook.

1. Housewarming:

-  The Cellar Whiteware Cereal Bowl

These bowls are so nice and sturdy! I love the classy white color and gloss finish.

-  Bath and Body Works 3 Wick Candles and Gentle Foam Hand Soap.

Both of these scents smell amazing! I can see Peach Bellini being a Summer favorite of mine.

2. Package in the Mail:

I had absolutely no luck in finding Maybelline's The Smokes or The Brights Palette. However, my dear friend Ashley found them and sent the palettes to me! I want to thank Ashley again for sending such a lovely gift! She was even kind enough to send me some yarn and a card too! So stay tuned for an upcoming post on those Maybelline Palette reviews and some crocheting projects!

3. Here are two freebies that I received

- Yankee Candle Large Jar Sweet Apple Candle
Picture

I don't have too many Yankee Candles, but this candles smells so good, it reminds me of candied apples. This puts me in the mind of being at the fair. Is it weird that I don't eat candied apples, but love the scent of them lol. I let this candle burn for at about 6 hours and the throw is just ok. You can smell the scent up close, but not at a distance. I haven't given up on Sweet Apple just yet though. I think this candle was an exclusive in Europe.

- MAC Relentlessly Red  (Retro Matte) Lipstick

This beautiful bright tomato red lipstick is perfect for Spring and Summer

Girl Talk: Vagisil Intimate Wash Review

Hello Everyone!

I want to thank Vagisil for sending me these feminine products for review. All opinions are 100% my own.

Today I thought would be a good day to start my girl talk series with this review on a few products that I received from Vagisil. Vagisil has partnered with the women on the talk show The Real promote these intimate products for the well being of women. As females we know it's important to take care of our bodies which also includes feminine hygiene. I know these issues may embarrass some females. Some may feel it's not an ideal topic for conversation, but feminine hygiene is as a part of life for women.

A little information about each of the Vagisil Intimate Washes. All this information and more can be found on their website http://vagisil.com/

1. Vagisil Odor Block Protection Wash

Vagisil. The confident clean.

At one time or another, almost every woman deals with feminine odor. And no wonder — you have thousands of sweat glands in your intimate area. Exercise, your period, and even what you eat can often be the cause of feminine odor. Only Vagisil Wash has Odor Block Protection to help stop odor from happening. It’s gentle enough to use every day, so now you can start every morning feeling clean…for a confidence that lasts all day.

2. Vagisil pH Balance Wash

Give sensitive intimate skin the moisture balance it needs.

Did you know that lack of hydration is one of the reasons why skin becomes sensitive and irritated? Your intimate skin is delicate to begin with, so getting the right balance of moisture can make a big difference. That’s why we developed Sensitive Plus.

- Gently cleanses PLUS soothes, moisturizes & helps protect sensitive intimate skin – especially when it becomes dry and irritated
- pH balanced hypoallergenic formula
- Dermatologist and gynecologist testedSoap-free & no harsh detergents
- Moisturizing formula helps protect dry, sensitive skin from irritation

 My Thoughts

When I want to use a feminine wash instead of regular soap and water, The Vagisil Sensitive Plus Moisture Balance Wash keeps me feeling fresh all day and doesn't have any harsh irritants. If you're looking for a feminine wash to use on a daily basis, this is good wash to use because it caters to sensitive skin. I've also used the Vagisil Odor Block Protection Wash and I use this from time to time. This is also a good wash to use during and after your period for an extra clean feeling or on a daily basis. This wash also caters to sensitive skin, keeps me feeling fresh all day, and has a nice fresh clean scent. I'm unfamiliar with the Vagisil pH Balance Wash, but I can tell you that it has a nice light fresh scent. I will review that wash in full in another upcoming Girl Talk post. You can find these products at your local drugstore, but I usually purchase mine from Walmart or Target. I love the cute tote and bathrobe Vagisil sent me along with other items!
