Pilar in the Pantry: Organic Valley Organic Balance Milk Protein Shake Review

Hello Everyone!

* Disclaimer: This is a PR Sample I received in my Fab Fit Fun Welcome Box. All opinions are 100% my own.

Last week I wrote a first impressions review on the welcome box I received from Fab Fit Fun. To read that post, CLICK HERE. I mentioned that I would review a few of the items, so today I wanted to do a health related review on the Organic Balance Milk Protein Shake I received in the box.

About Organic Balance:
http://www.organicvalley.coop/products/protein-shakes/organic-balance/

Balance is satisfying the delicious without sacrificing the nutritious.

Organic Balance is a delicious, organic milk protein shake perfectly portioned for a quick breakfast, a light snack, or anything in between. Made with a simple list of high-quality ingredients, it's the perfect shake to keep you energized while you're on the go.

Nutritious, wholesome ingredients to power you through your day.

At Organic Valley, we believe in keeping things simple. Use what you need, and leave out what you don't. That's how our family farmers have operated every day since 1988.

This belief is brought to life with Organic Balance, which consists of only 9 high-quality ingredients, 16g of organic milk protein and 50% of your recommended daily intake of calcium.

Like all Organic Valley products, Organic Balance is made without the use of GMOs, antibiotics, synthetic hormones, toxic pesticides or artificial sweeteners.

Why is Protein Good for Me?

Protein is a primary building block in muscle, bones, skin and blood. Consuming enough protein aids in post-workout recovery, satisfies your appetite more completely, and aids in post-workout recovery and supports muscle and tissue repair in general. The protein in Organic Balance is a combination of whey and casein, which occur naturally in milk. Whey is a “fast acting” protein that the body can break down and absorb quickly. Whey protein helps promote muscle growth and strength. Casein is a “slow-acting” protein because it takes longer to digest and is slowly released into the bloodstream. Casein inhibits the breakdown of protein and protects muscles. Both proteins are needed for proper nutrition and should be consumed in combination.

My Thoughts

This milk protein shake is pretty decent. The milk is really creamy, but it doesn't leave me feeling bloated like regular milk since this milk is lactose free. Another plus for all my health conscience people reading :) this milk is also gluten free. When I first tasted this milk protein shake I noticed it tasted a little chalky, but in tolerable way. I'm not a fan of dark chocolate since I think it tastes nasty, but I was pleasantly surprised how good this milk protein shake tasted! Honestly it really didn't taste like typical dark chocolate, it wasn't bland tasting at all. Even though you can store this milk protein shake on the shelf, personally I think I tastes better when it's cold. On the website it states  you should store this product between 33 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit.

I haven't seen this product in too many stores in my area except in Walmart and Bilo. I looked on the website, and it provides information of where you can purchase these products in your area. I really think this milk protein shake is worth giving a try due to its nutrients and health benefits.

  1. I'm all for organic things! I always drink almond milk and tried the dark chocolate version on it and I found it didn't taste like typical dark chocolate either!
