Hello Everyone!

I was really excited to get my hands on Maybelline's The Rock Nudes Palette! I found this at my local Walmart for $9.98. If you follow my blog, you probably have noticed that I'm a major fan of these palettes, so I just felt it was appropriate to add this to the collection to make it complete lol. I know some of you wanted me to review this palette, so let's get the review started!

My Thoughts

I can say that Maybelline came up with a really good theme for this palette with The Rock Nudes. The navy and black shades really give this palette life with it's edginess. This palette truly has all the shades to bring out your inner Rockstar. Since this palette does have a lot of darker shades, I think that Maybelline should have released this palette during the Fall when most makeup lovers like to wear darker eye makeup. As a makeup lover myself, I'll wear dark eyeshadow anytime of year though!

Out of all the Maybelline Nude Palette Collection this one has the best sponge application brush. I typically don't use the application brush in thee palettes, but this one works pretty well. I also like how it's easy to blend the shades in the palette, and fallout is minor.

The major complaint I have with this palette is the lack of pigmentation with the some of lighter glittery shades. As for the darker shades, the pigmentation is alright. It's a shame because those glittery shades were some of the shades that drew me to wanting this palette. Even with using m NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in white and the NYX Eyeshadow Base in White, the glittery shades still didn't really show up all that well. I tried using a wet brush and that helped the shades show up more including the glitter shades. I have to be completely honest here, this palette isn't a must have.
I'm glad that I have this palette in my collection,
but I wish the performance was better. I'm going to continue use this palette and I love the colors, but the pigmentation isn't all that great.

  2. I have this palette and feel the same way about it. I really like the matte shades, but some of the shimmers are really not that great. The best way I could find to make those work is to use a wet eyeshadow brush, like you said. Great review, Pilar!

    1. Thank you! A wet brush truly saves the day when using this palette! I was a little bummed out that the glitter shades weren't pigmented because they're so pretty!

  3. Great review Pilar! I love the blue shade second to last on the top row! Too bad some of the shades were lacking pigmentation, but I agree they did a great job of color selection for the rock nudes theme!! I love the makeup look you created as well!!

  5. This is a brilliant review, Pilar and love the eye makeup that you came up with! I skipped all of the Maybelline palettes though, must say when it comes to eyeshadow palettes, I stick with high end.

  9. I love all their palettes too Pilar. But in the Brights palette I was so disappointed with the lighter shades, the pigmentation was very poor. Sounds like the same for this one. Thanks for the review :)

    1. I saw that a lot of people didn't like the The Brights Palette. I actually thought it was pretty decent. I would try using a white eyeshadow base to help the colors pop. I know for me that helped a lot! I'm not giving up on this palette, but I really wish some of the shades were more pigmented.
