Add A Little Sparkle

Hello Everyone!

Spring is here and I've been creating a few new makeup looks. Today I'm sharing a sparkly eye makeup look with a bold orange lip. For this look I used the custom palette I made from Coastal Scents and for the bold orange lip, I used Pixi Matte Last Liquid Lip in Caliente Coral. Along with this makeup look I also wanted to share a few inspirational quotes.

In the darkest light a star still sparkles.

Don't let anyone or anything dull your sparkle

Today I wanted to share the new Littles 4.0 Set from Drunk Elephant. Since I already wrote a review for majority of these products, I'm just going to provide the descriptions. If you missed my original post, CLICK HERE for my thoughts about the products.

SUGGESTED USAGE:

Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser Squeeze Beste No. 9 into palm. Add water to lather and gently massage over face, eyes and neck. Rinse well with warm water and pat dry. Use nightly or in alternation with the other Drunk Elephant cleansers.

Tip: We recommend skipping the morning cleanse, as it’s not necessary if you’ve cleansed your skin the night before.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

C-Firma Day Serum In the morning, apply evenly to clean, dry face, neck, chest and backs of hands. Immediately follow with Umbra Sheer™ Physical Daily Defense SPF 30 for unsurpassed UVA/UVB protection.

Tip: C-Firma contains pure L-ascorbic acid and is best when fresh, so use immediately and don’t stock up.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum Apply B-Hydra™ to face, neck, chest, hands or any place on your body needing increased hydration. Mix with any serum, cream or oil to lock it in.

Tip: Vitamin B is well-known to complement vitamin C, so try mixing it with C-Firma™ for an extra shot of hydration.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum At night, apply to a clean, dry face, neck, chest and backs of hands, avoiding the eye area. Mix with Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil for maximum effectiveness.

Note: Very slight tingling may be experienced, particularly for the first few days of application. This typically dissipates as your skin becomes adjusted. Start slowly. Use the product every other night, alternating with Virgin Marula Oil as necessary.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil Apply 2-3 drops to face, neck, chest, hands, cuticles, or any place on your body needing increased moisture or soothing nourishment, without any greasy residue. Try mixing Marula, a carrier oil, with any Drunk Elephant product to enhance penetration and results.

Tip: Smooth over hair to tame frizz, nourish and add shine.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Protini Polypeptide Cream Apply morning and night to clean, dry skin for a vital dose of protein and replenishing moisture the skin needs to retain its youthful appearance.

Tip: We like to mix it up so add a shot of Protini to any Drunk Elephant serum, cream or oil.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Umbra Sheer™ Physical Daily Defense SPF 30 Every morning, apply evenly onto face, neck, chest and backs of hands.

Tip: Use in conjunction with C-Firma™ for an added boost of vitamin C and antioxidants. Apply liberally 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply at least every two hours. Use a water resistant sunscreen if swimming or sweating.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

C-Tango™ Multivitamin Eye Cream Gently pat a pump of C-Tango™ around the eye area using your ring finger.

Tip: Leave C-Tango™ in the fridge for a cooling, soothing treatment.

Denim Smoke Eye Makeup

Hello Everyone!

In January I shared a customized palette that I created from Coastal Scents. Today I wanted to share a Denim Smoke Eye Makeup Look that I created.

Since it's Spring, I wanted to incorporate a pastel color, so I added Cornflower all over the lid.

I didn't want to create a full smokey eye for this look. To soften the smokey eye I added Barista into my crease, and Rainstorm in the outer V and on top of the crease. Barista and Rainstorm blend well together.

To finish my eye makeup, I used Pixi Eyeliner in Blue Black on my lower lash line, and for the winged liner.

Curls The Ultimate Styling Collection

Hello Everyone!

* Disclaimer: This posts contains PR Samples from Curls. Thank you Curls for sending these products for review. All opinions are 100% my own. Product and brand information provided by curls.biz

Today I bring you a review for Curls The Ultimate Styling Collection. Since the weather is going to be warm and humid soon, I'm always looking for products that will hold my curls. Let's see what the Curls Ultimate Styling Collection has to offer.

Description

Formulated with pure Beantree for added sheen and moisture.

HOLD: Soft and natural STYLE: Use for protective styles.

Description

Formulated with certified organic aloe leaf juice to condition while holding curls in place.

HOLD: Firm STYLE: Use for wash n go styles

Description

Formulated with organic Quinoa to strengthen and protect curls.

HOLD: Medium USE: Braid/Twist Out

Description

Formulated with Marshmallow Root to condition and thicken curls.

HOLD: Medium USE: Roller/Rod set

My Thoughts

The first thing I notice is that each gel has a different scent. Some of the gels are sweet scented and others gels are sweet and tarte scented. The texture feels more liquid than firm, but the gels aren't runny.  As I mentioned in my intro, I'm always looking for hair products particularly gels that will hold my curls during the hot and humid weather here in South Carolina.

If you saw my recent make post, then these photo looks familiar. Today I'm going to focus on my hair. I used the B Defined Curl Defining Gel. For this hairstyle I sectioned my hair off in 7 parts. I then braided each section, sprayed my hair with water, and then added gel to my hair. While my hair was still damp and braided I twisted the braids into bantu knots and put a silk bonnnet on my hair overnight. I love how my hair looks and the gel held up to it's claim with a medium hold. My curls wore for most of the day without frizz or dullness. I have the old packaging of the collection (not pictured), but you can find the Curls Ultimate Styling Collection at Target.

Jaclyn Hill Palette Volume II

Hello Everyone!

At the beginning of the month, I decided to pick up the new Jaclyn Hill Palette Volume II from Ulta I waited to get my palette from Ulta since I had reward points and I used a coupon so I saved a few dollars.

The package is similar to the first version with glossy white pagackaging and the font ia different. I've always thougt this packaging looks classy.

The Jaclyn Hill Palette Volume II has 35 vibrant shades that include matte, shimmer, and satin shadows.

1st Row

Row 1:
Certified (matte pearl)
I'm In It (satin cotton candy),
Love Handles (matte peach cobbler)
Comfort Zone (matte nutmeg)
Perfectionist (matte nectarine)
Ride-or-Diamonds (shimmering rosy copper)
Thick Skin (matte terracotta)

I like the color selections in the first row. I'm glad Jaclyn Hill inlcuded transition shades (or at least I will use the some of brown shades as transition shades) I'm In It is my favorite shade on the first row. I'm In It is a such a gorgeous iridescent/pink shimmer shadow. Certified is a pretty color, but it's my least favorite shadow in the 1st Row. At first I thought Certified was going to be satin, but when applied I read the description that this shadow is matte. I like matte shadows, but Certified is a little chalky.

2nd Row

Row 2:
No Joke (matte dandelion)
Taliya (shimmering gold leaf)
Feelin' Myself (matte tangerine)
Homebody (matte mahogany)
GRWM (shimmering natural copper)
Boujee (shimmering peach bellini)
Drama Queen (shimmering pink diamond)

The 2nd row has a few shades that aren't that pigmented and chalky. No Joke is a beautiful yellow, but it's chalky. Taliya, Boujee, and Drama Queen are also beautiful shimmer shadows, but least pigmented when swatched. My hope is that shinmer shades will apply better with primer. GRWM, Feelin' Myself and Homebody in my opinion are the shades that are the best out of this row of shadows.

3rd Row

Row 3:
Flawed & Awed (shimmering marmalade)
G-Money (matte mustard seed)
Positivi-TEA (matte electric coral)
My Man (matte neon orange)
Grateful (matte clay brick)
Heart On (matte strawberry daiquiri)
Livin' My Best (matte cherry with pink sparkle)

The pigmentation of the shadows on the 3rd Row are so pigmented. There are a mixture of mattes and a shimmer shadows. My Man is my favorite on this row. I love how vibrant orange My Man applied in my makeup look (see last post). I thought Livin' My Best was an interesting and good choice for a shadow because I don't see too many eyeshadow palettes that include a red shadow.

4th Row

Row 4:
A Moment (shimmering lilac)
Therapy Sesh (matte orchid)
Lolli Mama (matte fuchsia)
Tipsy Girl (matte hot pink)
Empowered (shimmering raspberry jam)
Next (matte sangria)
Dance Party (matte fruit punch)

The 4th Row is my favorite. I love bright pinks and purples. A Moment, Therapy Sesh, Lolli Mama, and Tipsy Girl are simply gorgeous. This is another row that the shades are very pigmented and easy to swatch.

5th Row

Row 5:
Stay True (matte berry)
Not My Journey (matte amethyst with pink sparkle)
Good Place (satin purple tulip)
Paolo (shimmering fig)
Oh, Hello! (matte black raspberry)
Crazy (matte merlot)
Temptress (glinting pitch black)

The 5th and final row is the row that caught my interest since I first heard about this palette. I've viewed many videos and read reviews that gave the purple shadows mixed reviews. Honestly I give the purple shadows a thumbs up based on the swatches on my arm. Purple shadow in general is known for being a difficult shade to formulate. I think Jaclyn Hill did a pretty good job with the formula. To test out one of the purples I used Not My Journey. The shadow blends well and the shadow is highly pigmented. The shadow feels like a buttery matte, and the shadow isn't chalky. If I had to choose a purple shadow that could use work. it would be Good Place. I like the color, and the shimmer, but I would like to see more pigmentation. I'm also glad that Jaclyn Hill included a black shadow, Temptress. You can create colorful smokey eye looks with Temptress, and Temptress also makes a good outer v shadow.

Overall I really like the Jaclyn Hill Palette Volume II . I love bright vibrant colors so I'm glad this palette didn't disappoint. This palette does have a few chalky shadows that I hope aren't going to be hard to blend, and some of the shadows could use more pigmentation. If you wear and like more neutral shades then I would skip this palette, but if you love bright colors this palette is worth trying.

Colorful Eye Makeup Feat. Jaclyn Hill Palette Volume II

Hello Everyone!

I'm doing things a little backwards today. I'm sharing a look that I created using the new Jaclyn Hill Palette Volume II. I'm currently working on the review for the palette, but I did the makeup look first. I'll will post the review in the next post.

Jaclyn Hill Palette Volume II

This makeup look is full of vibrant colors since the majority of the Jaclyn Hill Palette has so many bright vibrant colors.

I used Perfectionist for my transitional shade and I added No Joke in the tear duct, and My Girl on the lid. I used Not My Journey. for the outer v, and the crease.

To finish this look, I added mascara and Tipsy Girl to the waterline.

My Take...

Hello Everyone!

Today's post is a little different. I want to give my take on the Coronavirus. I won't sit here and say that this virus doesn't scare me because it does.

No bread

Do you ever notice in times like this the world goes into panic mode? Panic buying, panic and overspending, worrying excessively and constantly. I think to get through this pandemic we have to have a level and rational head about things.

Late night Target Run last Sunday

I live in a hurricane state South Carolina so this type of panic isn't all that new to me. I'm used to seeing empty shelves, during the possible threat of hurricane. It can get pretty crazy around here.

Eggs are scarce
Thankfully there was plenty of food at the grocery when I went on Friday, but there was literally no toilet paper.  I have 3 packs of toilet paper because we were running low and I usually buy 2 or 3 packs when they're on sale for my stockpile, not as a panic buy.  As you go out and shop, please remember to get groceries and not just toilet paper. You should be nourishing yourself with food to stay healthy.

As for sanitary conditions I'm also confused,  we should be washing our hands, and sanitizing our homes etc anyway not just during the threat of illness spreading. I also had to go back to Target on Friday I was in the self check out line and there was this little boy and he was sneezing and coughing not covering his mouth and his mom just stood there and said nothing to him. I'm sure this lady had to notice the displeased looks on many of the customers faces. Thankfully I was at the last lane so I wasn't in the path of him caughing. Once again we should be covering our cough anyway. Another thing, please be aware of your mental health. Anxiety and depression are issues I suffer from, so I'm trying to be aware of my daily feelings.

Like I said this virus does scare me and worry me, but I'm putting my faith in God that we get through this and taking safety and sanitary precautions to prevent the spread of this virus. Everyone please be safe and take care. As always my relationship with my God is my own, I am in no way trying to push my religious beliefs on anyone.

Be well!

Crochet and Makeup

Hello Everyone!

About a week ago, I posted a new crochet hat on my Instagram that I made. I'm not sure why I made myself a hat so late in the season, I guess it's because of all the rainy and cold weather that gave me inspiration. Can you believe I haven't crocheted in over a year?!

Pink is my favorite color, so I made myself a light pink hat

I love to crochet, but making the pom pom is my favorite part. If you're curious I don't use a pom pom maker, I make the pom pom the old fashion way.

As for my eye makeup, I used the Urban Decay Naked Reloaded Palette. Since it's still Winter, I went for a soft sublte look. I also use Pixi Beauty's Bare Brilliance as a gold liner to go on my lids.

I love pairng a nude lipstick with a soft sublte look, so I'm wearing Pixi Matte Beige.
