Summer Beauty Haul 2014

Hello Everyone!

Since we're now in Summer, I figured I would share another collective haul for the season. I tell you BH Cosmetics and Ulta were my go to places to shop with all those amazing sales lately. I also can't forget about Victoria's Secret Semi Annual Sale.

Ulta

Ulta has to be my ultimate favorite place to buy beauty items. I love how they have numerous buy one get one half off sales. I really like using Real Techniques Brushes so of course I picked up a few during the sale. Other items I got during the buy one get one half off sale were NYX products. I really wanted to try their Butter Lipsticks and a jumbo eyeshadow pencil. If you are looking for less expensive lip liner pencils I highly recommend NYX lip liners. These lip liners match a lot of MAC lipsticks. I also picked up a two Revlon Lip Butters and I received a free Revlon Lustrous Lip Gloss with my purchase.

BH Cosmetics

I can't get enough of BH Cosmetics website and their sales lol. I just picked up a few eyeshadow palettes and a pink brush set that came along with one of the eyeshadow palettes.

Victoria's Secret and MAC

I was really debating if would get anything from Victoria's Secret during the Semi Annual Sale this time. I just purchased a few items which included a Love Spell Shower Gel/Shaving Cream and a Bottle of Dream Angels Heavenly. I also purchased some bronzers. Incase anyone wants to know the shade it's F16 Medium in Goddess. As for MAC, I got a Paint Pot in Painterly and a few new lipsticks (from left to right: Show Orchid, Pure Heroine, and Lickable).

That's the end of my collective haul, did you find any good beauty sales lately?

The Simple Things In Life

Hello Everyone!

We all know that life can keep us busy, and sometimes our daily schedule can be hectic and stressful. Today I bring to you all another inspirational post about what I consider the simple things in life. I guess I consider this as an inspirational post because it's positive.

1. Praying and Reading the Bible

I actually consider this a major part of my life.  I pray daily and when I need encouragement, peace, and inspiration I read the Bible.

2. Have a Girls Day with my mom

What can I say I'm a mama's girl lol. I love spending time with my mom. Whether it's watching movies, shopping, or just talking,  I cherish the mother and daughter bond we have.

3. Spend Time with my Best Friend

I actually just mentioned my bestie two posts ago on June 8 since it was National Best Friend's Day. Even though life can make people busy, I make time for my bestie (and other people I love and care about) Spending time with him is always awesome!! My other best friend from college lives in another state I talk/text to her often as well.

4. Eat Ice Cream

Ice cream is one of my favorite cool treats to eat especially during the Summertime!  There's nothing like a yummy bowl of cookies and cream ice cream!

5. Watch a Good Movie or Read a Good Book

Who says you have to have to go to movie theater? Sometimes I like to stay in and watch a DVD from my collection. I'm not neglecting reading, but I just haven't read a book lately lol.

6. Take a Selfie

This is pretty explanatory, there's nothing wrong with embracing yourself!

7. Sleep in on a Rainy Day/ Take a Relaxing Bath

When possible I try to sleep in when it's raining outside. If that's not possible I like to take a relaxing bath from time to time.

8. Laugh and Smile

Life is full of enough stressors, so I try to see the good in life. It's good to incorporate laughter and smiles because life isn't supposed to be filled with misery.

9. Work on a Project (or finish a project)

Crocheted Granny Squares before I finished my mom's Mother's Day gift last month. See Mother's Day post for the full blanket

Project can't be so fun! For those of you who follow my blog, know that I love to crochet. I also drafted a cookbook containing my recipes and my mama's recipes. Now I just need to print the pages and put it in a binder. Who knows what project I'll work on next, I love to stay busy with homemade and DIY stuff!

10. Do Something Nice for Someone

I find one of the most gratifying and humble things in life is to do something kind for others. I think it's awesome when people pay it forward. The smallest nice gesture just might make someone's day.

That's my list of my simple things in life. What do you consider the simple things in life?

BH Cosmetics 120 Color Palette 1st Edition Review

Hello Everyone!

Disclaimer:
My apologies for the missing pictures. My pictures were accidentally deleted off my blog. Please Refer to my Instagram account miss_pilar to view the pictures (or some of the pictures) that were deleted.

Today I wanted to write full review on my thoughts about BH Cosmetics. In this post I'll also review my first 120 Palette 1st Edition. To check out my previous post on BH Cosmetics Eyes On The 80's Palette Click Here

About The Company

- I just starting purchasing makeup from BH Cosmetics in December 2013, and so far I love the quality of their products that I own.

- They have frequent sales throughout the week and holidays.

- They offer a wide range of makeup items.

- The shipping doesn't take too long (about 4 days). I'm not a fan of the shipping price of $7.95, but every so often they offer free shipping or a free palette code (I usually take advantage of the free shippping lol)

- Customer service is very helpful answering any questions and concerns that I had.

- So far, I've had a positive experience with this company

Now for the eyeshadow palette review.

120 Palette 1st Edition

Apperance

-  Hard black push case

- Plenty of colors to work with

- Packaging is well wrapped around the items (my items came in tact)

- There is no brush inside the palette: however, I purchased this palette during a sale and a 7 piece travel brush set was included.

-Medium sized mirror and two removable trays of eyeshadows

My Thoughts

So many colors! This palette has everything from colorful bright and neon shades, to neutral shades. Out of the five 120 Editions Palettes that BH Cosmetics offers, I recommend this 1st Edition if you're looking for a range of different colors (The 2nd Edition does look similar to this palette)

The colors are very pigmented and pick up color well. There are only a few colors that I had to work with to get a decent amount of color.

Swatches

I really like that these shadows aren't chalky when applied, and the color last most of the day without much creasing.

This is a great palette that has been getting a good bit of usage especially during the Spring because of all those bright colors.

I can create plenty of looks.

This was actually my first purchase from BH Cosmetics that I mentioned I bought in December. I have been pleased with the quality and quantity of this palette. I also like that their items are reasonably priced and have numerous sales often. I picked up a few more eyeshadow palettes, that I will share in a upcoming collective haul post :)

Do you own any items from BH Cosmetics? Will you be making any future purchases?

Thanks for reading!

FOTD: Mermaid Eyes and BH Cosmetics Eyes On The 80's Palette Review

Hello  Everyone!

Disclaimer:
My apologies for the missing pictures. My pictures were accidentally deleted off my blog. Please Refer to my Instagram account miss_pilar to view the pictures (or some of the pictures) that were deleted.

So I finally got my hands on BH Cosmetics Eyes On The 80's Palette and I love it!

Appearance

- The palette comes in hard cardboard with a magnetic closure

- Clear film covering to protect eyeshdows

- 30 Very Vibrant neon and a few neutral matte and shimmery colors.

-  Storage friendly

 Overall Thoughts

If you're looking for an alternate to UD Electric Palette I think this is a good palette to have in your collection. I originally planned to buy the UD Electric Palette, but that whole eye warning issue didn't set well with me. Maybe I'm just extra cautious, but I'm just as happy with this palette. ☺ I also got a 12 piece brush set that came along with it during a sale. This palette is very cost friendly.

The brush case smells like paint when you first receive it, but I washed it with dish detergent and a paper towel.  I let it sit open overnight and the paint smell was gone.

Fallout is minimal and the shadows are long lasting.

I recommend using a primer with these shadows to get the full effect of the colors.

The shadows are in matte and shimmery finishes. For the shimmery shadows you don't have to use a whole lot for the colors to show. I actually used too much of the shimmery colors and I used NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk as a base...the result...I looked like I was going to Studio 54 or a member of the ice capades lol. I just had to redo the eye makeup and tone it down a bit, no worries lol

You can create all types of looks from retro, modern day, bold, and even soft etc. I'll try and post my softer look with this palette soon. This palette is very versatile.

Now on to the FOTD ☺

Building and Maintaining Self Confidence

Hello Everyone!

I have an inspirational post for you today about building self confidence.

I think at some point in our lives, people question their level of self confidence. Let explain further what I mean. In life there can be constant pressure to be perfect (which is impossible) or have nay sayeres in your ear making negative comments. It's easier said than done to ignore negative influences. Here are a few ways to build and maintain self confidence.

1. Accept/Acknowledge Your Insecurities and Imperfections

Like I mentioned nobody is perfect, nor should you try to be. I think imperfections are what make people unique. You may not love yourself 100%, but if you can like yourself and the qualities you possess you're heading toward the right direction of building self confidence. If you do decide to make changes, make sure your changes will make you  happy and won't negatively affect your health or well being.

2. Acknowledge Things You Do Well

Everyone does something well, so learn to embrace it and use your talent(s)

3. Pamper Yourself

Every now and then we all should treat ourself to some pampering.  Yes, it's true that confidence comes from within,  but there is absolutely nothing wrong with focusing on your outside apperance. Get a new hairstyle, or a new outfit etc. Sometimes a little "pick me up" can boost your confidence too. However, you should work on your inner self first because that's what truly matters most ☺

4. Stay Positive

In order to buld and maintain self confidence, you have to be positive. You can't be truly happy with yourself and in general if you're constantly negative, doubftul etc. all the time. Try to keep a positive attitude and outlook about yourself.

Those are a few tips I feel can help build self confidence. What tips do you think are important to build and maintain self confidence ?

Side Note: I know this Inspirational post was long overdue since I haven't written one in awhile so I'm going to start back writting them. Also If you want me to write about a topic and share my thoughts let me know in the comments section

Thanks for reading!
