How To Wash Your Makeup Brushes

Hello Everyone!

One of my most dreaded task includes washing my makeup brushes lol. Washing my makeup brushes isn't not one of my favorite things to do, but nonetheless it has to be done. I try to wash my brushes at least every two weeks Cleaning your makeup brushes on a regular basis is important because you want to get rid of dirt, bacteria, old makeup, and oil that your makeup brushes has between the bristles. I know there are many different methods of washing your makeup brushes, but I find the method I've been using over the year has kept my makeup brushes clean, shapely, and soft.

You'll Need:

- Dirty Makeup Brushes
- Baby Shampoo
- Towel
- Warm Water

1. First, run your brush bristles under warm water. Don't run your brushes under hot water! Also keep the bristles pointing downwards. If your point your brushes upward you can loosen the glue and ultimately ruin your brushes.

2. Add baby shampoo in the palm of your hand. You don't need that much, but if your brushes are extra dirty you may want to use a little more baby shampoo to clean them.

3. Swirl brush into shampoo until lathered

4.Once you've washed the dirt out of your makeup brush, rinse in warm water. You can squeeze the excess water from your makeup brush by holding squeezing the bristles downward between your index finger and thumb

5. Lay your brushes flat on a towel and make sure you spread them out so they don't overlap. I like to wash my brushes in the evening so they can dry overnight. You can also turn your brushes before you go to bed to help them dry evenly (if you wash your brushes earlier in day you can turn them once every few hours to help them dry evenly) By morning your brushes should dry. Just make sure your brushes are completely dry before usage.

  1. That is awesome you find the motivation to wash yours every two weeks! Ugh I can't even remember the last time I wahsed mine. So bad I know! I might be crazy but I feel like my makeup doesn't spot as well when my brushes are super clean so I think that's why I don't wash them often, besides pure laziness lol!
I also use baby shampoo to wash mine. Sometimes I use dish soap on ones that are really bad like my foundation brushes!

    1. Thanks! Lol! It's a dreaded task, but I try to dedicate myself to wash my brushes every two weeks! Remember I was telling you I've been experiencing oily skin this Summer? That's another reason I try to keep my brushes clean so oil and bacteria don't build up. I don't want to get a breakout on my face! I agree when my brushes have just been cleaned I notice that my makeup doesn't spot well either. I've used dish soap in addition to baby shampoo on my brushes too especially when they were really dirty!

  2. You have loads of makeup brushes! :) you are very good if you wash your brushes once a fortnight, I only do it once in a blue moon when I remember. I've seen people use special gloves to wasn't their brushes but I really don't see what the need is for one of those when shampoo and rinsing it will do the same xx

  8. Good job keeping your brushes clean! I usually put it off, and then end up washing all of my brushes at once. I need to be better about just keeping them clean a few at a time.
