Hurricane Preparations 2018

Hello Everyone!

I'm glad I went grocery shopping on Monday. A lot of stores were out of stock of items.

If you've been watching the news and the weather channel, you've heard about Hurricane Florence and the impact it can have on the Carolinas. As some of you may know, I live in South Carolina.. which is a hurricane prone state and the governor declared a state of emergency over the weekend as a precaution.

Steady traffic from people out of town

I don't live near the coast, but hurricanes are still frightening. Over the years I noticed my area gets a lot of rain, wind, and some power outages. My prayer is this storm won't be too bad. I heard on the news yesterday that evacuations from the coast started lane reversals at noon. Most people who have to evacuate from the coast, come near my area.

The interstate was backed up

For everyone who has to evacuate etc, please be safe on the road, and please be safe in general. In addition to preparing for Hurricane Florence, I currently have a sinus infection.

Hopefully this storm will weaken and won't cause too much damage. I'm unsure if I'll be posting the rest of the week since I'm supposed to be resting, and as I mentioned there could be a power outage.

Today is September 11th, a day that changed history. Let us never forget those who lost their lives, the survivors, and first responders on that tragic day 17 years ago.

Talk with you all soon!

  1. As you know, Im not far from you. Im glad you went shopping. We went Sunday for our regular grocery shopping and plan to go again tomorrow for a few things we are out of. Thats pretty normal for us anyway. We were going to go to the beach Friday but that is no longer an option. Stay safe over there!!

    1. Thanks Lisa! I'm glad that you and your loved ones are safe! I know Hurricane Florence did damage in NC. I went shopping soon as I heard about the precautions. It's best to get to the stores early! That's good you already had food!

  2. Hoping that the storm weakens also. So many folks in the path of it. Don’t know about you but with a sinus infection the issues can go up and down with the changing weather so hoping this don’t affect you too much. Stay safe!

  3. Pilar, that's wise of you to prepare in case of a hurricane. So glad you bought a few groceries at the store beforehand. These storms can be scary, and I didn't realize you get so much rain and winds in your area. Take care of yourself, and I hope you feel better with your sinus infection. Thinking of you and sending good thoughts your way.

    1. Thanks Sheri! I'm starting to feel a little better. Ever since that flood in 2015 it has me on edge when it rains heavily. The winds can be strong depending on the storm. I immediately went grocery shopping last week because items sell out quickly especially bottles water

  4. Hurricanes are frightening and it's best to be prepared. Sandy blew through NYC a number of years ago and left so much damage. I hope Hurricane Florence won't be anywhere as bad as they're predicting. Take and be safe Pilar!

  11. Please be safe Pilar. The rains will go on for a few more days ...it will be some time before the crest levels...too many people are not even thinking of that. It's scary. I am praying for all . Blessings to you and yours, take care of one another. xoxo, Susie

    1. Thanks Susie! It was raining consistently on Sunday. Good point you make. I think during natural disasters sometimes we can forget about other issues that can possibly occur. Blessings to you as well. I prayed for all involved.
