Projects with Pilar: Crochet Hats

Hello Everyone!

*PR Samples for this post are provided by Lion Brand Yarns. All opinions are 100% my own.

It's finally FALL! Not that means a lot here since it's still well into the upper 90's. I can't wait for cooler weather! Over the Summer I worked a few new crocheting projects. Today I'm revealing another Projects with Pilar Post in collaboration with Lion Brand Yarns.

I really enjoyed making crocheted beanie hats last Winter, so I decided to make one for Fall. I didn't show the hat by itself since my pictures weren't displaying right.

This has to be my favorite hat that I made for these projects! I didn't take a picture in this hat, but I'll probably do that in future posts.

My Mickey Mouse Ears Inspired Hat

I took a picture in this hat to show the two pom poms. I also decided to wear my Mickey Mouse shirt to go along with my hat. As you can tell I took these selfies in the house since it's so hot outside!

I would like to do a few scarves, to match the hats. Hopefully South Carolina will have a cooler Fall and Winter this year!

Something thats near and dear to my heart is helping those in need all year round, but especially during the colder months so if you can, please donate clothes and winter accessories etc. to your local shelters and charities.

Being Prepared

Hello Everyone!

Today's post is a little personal. As you all know we're currently in hurricane season and if you live in a hurricane prone state like I do (South Carolina) this is NOT always your favorite time of year.

After seeing the devastation in Houston and surrounding areas that were affected by Hurricane Harvey,  it has me a little shook that Hurricane Irma is one the strongest hurricanes on record. So after waking up from a nap on Wednesday evening, I heard the governor declaring a state of emergency as a precaution for South Carolina. Not the thing I wanted to hear. Lets be honest here storms can be terrifying.

I remember later that night (Wednesday) on the 11 pm news they were saying that it's normal to have PTSD or anxiety about this hurricane, especially after the flood in 2015. People including myself are still rebuilding our lives after being flood victims. Then there was that mentioning of Hurrricane Hugo back in 1989 that devestated my state, especially on the coast. I don't remember anything about that hurricane since I was only 3 years old, but my mom has always said it was a terrifying experience and they left without power for about 2 weeks.

I feel like I've been glued to the TV keeping track of this storm especially since the path changes constantly. South Carolina is expected to get heavy rain and winds and possible tornadoes on Monday, but that doesnt mean the path won't change. I'm hoping and praying which ever route this storm goes that it won't cause too much devastation.

Being Prepared

Even if this storm doesn't cause too much damage, it's still good to be preprared since there will be other future hurricanes. In my house we prepare for hurricane season every year.  I just need to find my flashlight! I live in an area that doesn't normally doesn't evacuate (well unless your in a mobile home). I already have water the pantry so thankfully I didn't have to search for that. I did stock up on non perishable foods incase the lights go out.

Thursday around 10am @ Walmart

This was the situation at Walmart. As you can there wasn't any water .

The water cases I had in the pantry

Last year when Hurricane Matthew hit, the lights went out for a few hours and some trees were down in the neighborhood, but nothing to damaging in my area. Being prepared is important. I wanted to thank everyone that left such kond words on my Instagram My thoughts and prayers are with everyone going through this. May God bless us all.

Derma E Essentials Radiance Toner and Illuminating Rosehip & Cranberry Face Oil

Hello Everyone!

* Disclaimer: This post contains PR Samples provided by Derma E for review purposes. I would like to thank Derma E for sending these products. All opinions are 100% my own.

Today I have two reviews for PR samples I received from Derma E. I have been loving this brand since I first tried a few products a few months ago. Lets get started with the review!

* Product information is courtesy of Dermae.com

DESCRIPTION

This alcohol-free, exfoliating, beauty toner helps to tone, tighten and brighten for a soft, smooth and luminous appearance. Glycolic Acid helps to remove dead skin cells for younger-looking skin while an exceptional blend of botanicals including Rooibos and Rosehip extracts help to revive skin for a fresh, radiant complexion.

My Thoughts

This is a amazing toner. I've used a few toners here and there, but this one by far is my favorite.
After I wash my face I use this to prep my face for oils and moisturizers. This toner also pairs well with Derma E's Illuminating Rose Hip & Cranberry Face Oil and Derma E's Radiance Face Glow Oil. It's something about oils that go very well with this toner!  My skin feels so soft after usage, and this is before I apply any oil or moisturizer!  I really like how the products I've tried from Derma E leaves my skin looking so glowy! This toner has a slight medicinal scent, but in my opinion scent it's tolerable.

DESCRIPTION

This deeply hydrating facial oil is enriched with pure plant botanicals, essential oils, antioxidants, and fatty acids to promote luminous, healthy-looking skin. Brightening Rosehip Oil, Cranberry and organic Pumpkin Seed Oils provide a more youthful glow.

My Thoughts

Since it's been so hot this Summer, my skin has felt a little dry (including my face). I've been using this oil as recommended in the morninf and evening, and I've noticed a change. My face doesn't feel as dry.  This oil helps keeps my face moisturized during the day and during the night. I noticed the scent is more of a rose hip oil rather than a cranberry scent.

The oil has my skin so glowly!

The rose hip oil is a little overpowering at first, but the scent fades. I tried the beauty hack and applied this to my shoulders when I wear maxi dresses etc. and my skin just glows! (See picture above)

Have you tried these products from Derma E?

Patiently Waiting for Fall

Hello Everyone!

Septemeber is finally here, and before we know Fall will be here as well! Living in a state that's known for heat and humidity, a girl can still dream about cooler weather right? It will probably still be hot when Fall arrive, but nonetheless Fall is my favorite season! I Also wanted to thank everyone who left well wishes on my last post. I'm still taking it easy, but I'm starting to feel better :)

 Handmade Blanket

When I moved it was a pleasant surprise to find this Fall inspired blanket I made a few years ago. I thought my blanket got ruined in that flood that South Carolina had in 2015. Thankfully it was safely tucked way in a plastic tote. I guess I overlooked it at the last house. Since it's still a little earlier, I'll probably display this on the recliner in October or November.

In speaking of floods, please don't forget the Hurricane and Flood Victims affected by Hurricane Harvey.

- Sweater Weather

I love wearing sweaters as the days get cooler. I'm more a long sleeves type of girl, but I do love my sweaters  and hoodies.

 Hot Cocoa

My favorite drink during the colder months! I just picked this up the other day lol

Cozy Boots

These boots are so warm and cozy!

Vampy Make up

Hello Dark Lips and Smokey Eyes I've missed you!

Are you patiently waiting for Fall? What do you like best about Fall?
