Bath & Body Works Fall Preview 2018

Hello Everyone!

Last week I went to Bath & Body Works to exchange a few candles that weren't throwing and the Fall 2018 candles were display. If you read my blog over the years, you already know that I detest anything pumpkin scented or pumpkin based foods lol. I primarily just love pumpkin decor. Surprisingly this year I did pick up a few pumpkin candles during my candle exchanges.

I got here before the store opened lol. After I had my morning walk in the mall, I made a few exchanges.

Hello Everyone!

Today July 27th, is a very special day. It's my 5th Blogiversary! I can hardly believe that I've been blogging for 5 years! All my bloversaries have been special, but this one is my most special blogiversary since its my 5th Year milestone!

Blogging isn't always easy. I can admit that. There have been plenty of times that I've wanted to quilt, felt self doubt, and even lacked motivation, but my heart always lead me back to my blog. I may review and collaborate with companies, but I blog because I thoroughly enjoy it. I love creating content and engaging in the blogging community.

I remember July 27th 2013 so vividly. I was sitting in front of my laptop deciding if I was going to hit publish for my first post. I was terrified lol! I sat and wondered was anyone going to actually read or comment on my post? After getting over my fears I finally hit publish. That's how it all began.

My first post was about my love for sunglasses. Giant Vintage Sunglasses was my first sponsored post soon after my first post. They sent over sunglasses for my 5th blogiversary! Thanks!

Fast forward 5 years later, I'm still blogging. Blogging comes so naturally to me now. I feel I've grown so much as blogger especially with my content. I wanted to write a blog that could be relatable to various readers hence the name Beauty and More by Pilar. I love beauty based topics etc, but I have so many interests that I've shared with you all over the years.

Two topics that I've discussed over the years are my struggles with depression and anxiety. When I first started my blog I knew that I wanted to discuss mental health issues. I wanted to share my story to help people who read my blog know that they're not alone, and there are different treatments available. You can read my recent Counseling post HERE.

Hello Everyone!

Before I start today's post, I want to thank everyone again that left such kind and encouraging words on my last post. I truly appreciate your support!

They're no denying that Summer is in full effect, especially if you live in the South. It's so hot!! Here are a few things that I love during the Summer, and a few decorative pieces etc.

I made this door wreath in May. Who says you can't have lavender as a Summer color?! I decided to keep my popcorn stitch blanket that I used for the Spring draped over the recliner for Summer as well.

Hello Everyone!

As some of you may know, I have depression and anxiety. Back in April, I started to notice that my mental health issues began to affect different aspects my life. Depression and anxiety can leave you feeling sad, anxious, afraid, tired, and alone...or at least those are some of the things I feel.

After trying to cope with my feelings on my own, I recently decided to go back into counseling. I also went to counseling during my Junior and Senior year in college. I'm all for getting treatment for mental health, but I realized I wasn't taking my own advice. Having a B.A. in Psychology, you would think I would have sought out treatment before now. I think it was hard admitting myself that It's ok not to be ok.

Strength 

Like so many people, I was in denial that I was finding it hard to cope with depression and anxiety. Depression can be hard. Anxiety can be hard as well. I used to feel life was so unfair that I struggle with both, sometimes at the same time.  I felt like I was putting on a brave face for the world, but I felt like my world was slowly falling apart.

After going to my first therapy session in years, I started to feel some relief when I talked about some of the things bothering me. For those of you that have never been in counseling, your first visit is typically an intake and plan for treatment.

Wisdom

By the end of my first session, my counselor asked me how did I feel, and I answered hopeful. Hopeful is a word I haven't used in so long regarding my anxiety and depression issues. I feel hopeful that with therapy, working on my treatment plan, lifestyle changes, and medication that I can begin my journey on feeling better again.
