Today I have another edition of monthly manicures that I've worn throughout July.

From left to right: Keep Up the Flame, Snow Me White, Blue By You, and Silver Glitter

I know some of you already saw my Fourth of July nails, but I wanted to include them since I'm displaying my monthly manicures lol

Sometimes I just want to wear a classic bright red on my nails.

Happy 1st Birthday to my Blog!!!/TMI TAG

Hello Everyone!

Disclaimer:

Today is a very special post for me because my blog is a year old today!! It seems so surreal that I've been blogging for a year!

Why I started blogging...

Before July 2013, I've always wanted to write a blog, but I never found the time especially during my college days. Last year I finally found some time and stopped putting it off. I just went for it! I wanted to share my love for all the things I found interesting, and relate to other bloggers who shared my interests.

How blogging has been an addition to my life...

I definitely can say blogging has been a positive addition to my life. Blogging has made me realize and rediscover all of the things I love to do. Blogging has also given me an opportunity to share my inspirational posts. Everyone can benefit from inspiration, encouragement, and positive words. I like blogging because it makes me happy and I enjoy it!

Thank You...

First I want to thank my mom and my two besties for supporting and encouraging me to blog!

Here's the gifts my Mom got for me for my blog's first anniversary. That was super sweet of her 💖

Next, I want to thank the companies for sponsoring my blog and sending me items to review. I appreciate the opportunity working with you!

Last, but not least I want to thank all my followers and readers. I appreciate you reading, commenting, and supporting my blog!

Here's some NYX products I purchased during their website sale. How cute is this little bag?!

Beauty Tips That I Use

Hello Everyone!

I wanted to share a few of my beauty tips that I use and find helpful.

1. Foundation as a concealer

This is one of my favorite tips because my Fashion Fair Foundation Stick works amazingly as a concealer. I get full coverage and I can save a few dollars lol.  If you do this, just make sure you use a good foundation. My mom taught me this tip a long time ago.

2. Ponds Dry Skin Cream to prepare my face for makeup

I never really use a bb cream or face primer specifically for my makeup. I know you may think Ponds Dry Skin Cream may leave your face oily and make applying your makeup difficult, but it doesn't. I use two dabs and my makeup is applied without any issues. This is also a tip I learned from my mom.

3. Citrus Fruits To Even Skin Tone

When I notice my skin is unevenly toned, I use grapefruit juice to help the problem. I squeeze half a grapefruit in a bowl and dab a cotton ball into the juice from the grapefruit. Then I take the cotton ball and dab the uneven area(s). Leave on for about 20 minutes and rinse. You can also use other citrus fruits such as lemons and oranges.

4. Soft Skin

After I take a shower or bath, I use a good lotion that locks in moisture. Two of my favorites are Cetaphil and Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula.
Since this is the season for sandal here are a few tips for soft feet: soak you feet or after you shower or bathe pat your feet dry use a pumice stone or foot file to clear any dead skin off the bottom of your feet, and use a good lotion (once again) I use Cetaphil or Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula, put on a pair of socks for the night, and by morning you should have soft smooth feet.

5. Go Makeup-less

Since it's Summer I rarely wear makeup except for lipstick. It's just to hot where I live and the heat is just terrible lol. I usually give my face time to breathe during the Summer months. Even though I wear makeup, I've mentioned in the past I don't wear it every day.

Those are just a few beauty tips that I use. What beauty tips do you use?

Red Heart Yarn Review

Hello Everyone!

*This is a sponsored post. All opinions are my own.

Today I have some goodies that were sent to me from Red Heart Yarn for review. I want to thank Red Heart Yarn for sending me these items from their new and popular yarn collections.

From Left to Right (Top)
Red Heart Medley
Red Heart Heads Up
Red Boutique Swanky

From Left to Right (Bottom)
Red Heart Reflections
Red Heart Sizzle Crochet Thread
Red Heart Boutique Sassy
Susan Bates Crochet Hook Set

For those of you who are familiar with my blog, know that I love to crochet. Red Heart Yarn is my go to brand. Even though I go to Walmart and Michaels to make Red Heart Yarn purchases, I also make purchases from their website www.redheart.com/yarn

Here's some information about Red Heart Yarn and its website...

- More people choose Red Heart Yarn over any other brand.

- Large color selection, you can find more colors on the website than in stores.

- Large yarn selection. So many textures

- Accessories and books for all your knitting and crocheting needs

- Free patterns, blog and videos on website

- Discounts are offered throughout the year

- You can sign up for emails/newsletter to stay informed about new products, projects, and discounts.

First Impressions

- Beautiful colors, I like all the colors especially the teal yarn.

-  Red Heart sent yarn from their new and popular collections. I think it's great the company sent me new items to try, and I'm super excited to incorporate these items into upcoming projects! It was thoughtful of Red Heart to send this cute tote bag to hold materials in.

- As you can tell by the pictures each yarn is different in size and texture. Some of the textures are soft, others are stringy, sequenced, and/or thin. Each yarn has it's own variation in texture. I really like the texture of the Boutique Sassy yarn because it's smooth to touch and it's simply beautiful! I believe this yarn was introduced last year. This one stuck out to me because it's not your typical yarn. I can see myself making a beautiful scarf with this yarn.

- In speaking of accessories, The Heads Up, Medley, and Boutique Sassy will also make for great clothing accessories.

- The quantity of yarn is a decent amount depending on the project. I should be able to make be able to make some cute items with these yarns. For example, I plan on making cute Halloween items with the Reflections yarn.

- Red Heart also sent a pack of Susan Bates Crocheting Hooks. I haven't used this brand before, but I like how the top end of the hooks are more flat and can grasp yarn more firmly. Yes I tested it :) I did notice the hooks are slightly shorter than my other hooks that I'm currently using, but they're still good hooks. I'll probably put pencil grips on these for more comfort. My fellow crocheters know what I'm talking about lol. This pack also includes a hook small enough to use for the Sizzle Crocheting Thread.

As I mentioned earlier in the post, I'll be writing more detailed reviews in the future about the yarns after I complete each of my crocheting projects. Check out www.redheart.com/yarn for all the newest and popular yarns, books, patterns and accessories etc.

NYX Butter Lipstick Review

Hello Everyone!

Disclaimer:
My apologies for the missing pictures. My pictures were accidentally deleted off my blog. Please Refer to my Instagram account miss_pilar to view the pictures (or some of the pictures) that were deleted.

I've really been wearing a lot of lipsticks so far this Summer and I wanted to share my thoughts on NYX's Butter Lipstick. I think they came out earlier this year, so they're still fairly new.

Swatches

From left to right: Hot Tamale, Razzle, and Pops

I thought I would include a few pictures to give a better idea of how the colors look. I'm only wearing lipstick in each picture.

Hot Tamale: A bright orange

Razzle: A blue based bright pink

Pops: A pinkish nude

My Thoughts:

I really like these butter lipsticks! Honestly I can't think of a better name to call them because the glide on my lips so smoothly and they're very moisturizing. Another plus is that these lipsticks are very pigmented and long lasting. I've worn these lipsticks for most of the day without reapplying. I purchased these lipsticks from Ulta, when they were on sale. I think it was a buy one get one half off sale a while back. If you're looking for inexpensive lipstick I highly recommend NYX Butter Lipstick.  Also any recommendations on the the NYX Butter Glosses?  I've had my eye on Apple Strudel for a while any other colors I should try?

My Giant Vintage Sunglasses Collection and Review

Giant Vintage Sunglasses 2013 Review

Now on to the Review

My sunglasses came in this box that was secured with brown and white paper stuffing. All the sunglasses came in a clear wrapping and everything was in tact. Inside the box, there were Tootsie Rolls and Stickers.

The Sunglasses

This is a pair of cat eye's I chose (the other two pair I chose were out of stock) I really like the detailing on the rim of the sunglasses.

The rest of the sunglasses, Giant Vintage chose. (I'm unsure of the names, but you can find them on their website)

These are my favorite pair :) I love oversized sunglasses, and these are absolutely fabulous!

How cute is the golden Lion on the handle?

This is a pair of smaller sunglasses to add to my collection. I love wearing oversized sunglasses, but sometimes I like to keep things simple.

Last but not least, another cute pair sunglasses.

Overall I really like all the sunglasses, and I can't wait to wear them this Summer. I want to thank Giant Vintage again for the sunglasses. Check them out at www.giantvintage.com

I hope that everyone had a nice Fourth of July weekend! Now that the weekend is coming to a close, I wanted to share a few of my weekend events.

I really didn't do a whole lot over the holiday except help prepare food and spent time with my mom. Honestly it was so hot outside I preferred to stay indoors lol.

I did a patriotic manicure and I really liked the results when I finished.

Food from the 4th :) Everything was delicious!!

I did a little crocheting. I wanted to get a head start on some items for the Fall. I haven't crocheted in about two months and I really wanted to make something lol!

I also got a package in the mail. I'm still working on reorganizing my makeup collection. It's such a process for me lol, but it's coming along nicely. I will show my display once I get everything in order.

What did you do over the holiday weekend?
