DIY Glitter Makeup Brush Holders

Hello Everyone!

I'm excited to share today's post with you because I've wanted to make these makeup brush holders for the longest time! Now that I've finished them, I'm going to share this tutorial on how to make glitter makeup brush holders.

You'll Need:

- Empty glass jar(s): I used empty Bath and Body Work Candle Jars and Yankee Candle Jars
- Mod Podge: I used Matte Finish
- Foam brush
- Glitter
- Aluminum Foil: You can also use Wax Paper or Newspaper to catch excess glitter

If you use a Bath and Body Works Candle jar, Here are a few steps to remove the wax:

- Place candle in the freezer overnight. This should break the wax into pieces

- Take a butter knife and remove wax pieces

- If the metal doesn't come out place jar in warm soapy water and let soak. Wash your jar.

- Take a butter knife and remove the metal out of the jar if needed. As you can see in the first picture, the wick and metal came out at once. That's why I suggested letting the jar soak if the metal is being stubborn to come off of the glass.

- To remove label, just peel off it off the jar

- To remove paper label of the bottom of the jar, take a butter knife and remove. This should be fairly
easy since your jar has been soaking in water to loosen the label.  * You can also use rubbing
alcohol to remove residue inside or outside of the jar.

- Re-rinse with soap and water

- Dry jar completely

DIY Makeup Brush Holders:

- Coat a thin layer of Mod Podge on the inside of the jar, but if prefer you can coat the outside. Try
to make sure you coat the Mod Podge evenly to prevent the glitter from clumping.

- Place a generous amount of glitter on the inside of and rotate until jar is coated with glitter.

- Empty excess glitter onto the aluminum foil and put glitter back into the glitter container.

- Set jar(s) aside for a few hours until completely dry.

*IMPORTANT! I went back and mixed the mod podge and glitter in a disposable plastic cup and re- Coated the jars after they dried because the glitter was getting on my brushes. Once I re-coated the
Jars and let them dry again, the problem was solved. If you mix glitter into the Mod Podge, you
shouldn't have any issues with glitter getting on your makeup brushes. However, if your prefer you
can just re-coat the jars with just Mod Podge and let dry.

Mod Podge and Glitter mixture

- Once your jar(s) are dry you can add rice or beads at the bottom. Optional

Pilar In The Pantry: Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls with Homemade Cream Cheese Frosting

Hello Everyone!

Today I have another Pilar in the Pantry food post. I made Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls with Homemade Cream Cheese Frosting for last night for Sunday's dessert. I started to use the frosting that is provided in the package, but I wanted to give the Cinnamon Rolls a homemade touch. This homemade frosting is a pretty simple to make and the frosting is sweet, but not overly sugary. These Cinnamon Rolls are good for breakfast, a snack or dessert.

You'll Need :

- 1 can of Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls
- 4 oz (1 stick) of margarine or butter (softened)
- 4 oz Cream Cheese (half a bar) (softened)
- 3 cups powdered sugar (add if 1 more cup if you want the frosting to be sweeter)
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

- Large bowl
- Measuring cups
- Electric mixer

Cooking Directions:

* Follow baking directions on Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls can. Remove and let cool completely.

* While your cinnamon rolls are baking, start prepping for your cream cheese frosting.

Frosting

1. In a large bowl, beat together the butter and cream cheese with an electric mixer.

2. Set the mixer on low speed, add the powdered sugar.  Add one cup at a time until smooth and creamy.

3. Beat in the vanilla extract on low speed.

4. All done :)

5. After the Cinnamon Rolls are cooled completely, frost. Store any leftover frosting and Cinnamon Rolls in the Refrigerator. I had enough frosting left over for a second package of cinnamon rolls. Enjoy!

* Also, this week on my blog is dedicated to recipe, DIY, and a tutorial so stayed tuned!

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Moisturizing Body Oil Review

Hello Everyone!

Disclaimer: The product in this post was sent to me from Palmer's for review purposes See First Impressions Post. All opinions are 100% my own.

About the Product and Claims etc.

Description

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Moisturizing Body Oil, enriched with Vitamin E, is a fast absorbing, lightly scented body oil that helps moisturize and soothe rough, dry skin without greasiness.  May be applied after shower or bath or poured directly into the bath.  Features a flip top cap for easy application.

Key Ingredients

- Cocoa Butter: a rich natural moisturizer that leaves skin soft and silky, tranforming even the roughest, driest areas into buttery soft skin.

- Vitamin E: a powerful antioxidant that helps improve the appearance of scars, stretch marks and imperfections on the skin, giving a more even and toned appearance.

Other Ingredients

Glycine Soja Oil (Soybean), Isopropyl Myristate, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Oil (Sesamum Indicum), Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed OiI (Safflower), PEG 40 Sorbitan Peroleate, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter (Cocoa), Fragrance (Parfum), Benzophenone 3, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Benzyl Alcohol, BHA, Beta Carotene (Vitamin A) (CI 40800)

* This product is NOT animal tested. Palmer's is against animal testing.

My Thoughts

I absolutely love this body oil! I've added this body oil to my bath water and my skin felt so soft while I took my bath. You only need to add a small of oil amount to your bath water, about 1 to 2 capfuls (you don't want to have a slippery tub!) I've also used this body after I got out the shower and once again my skin was left feeling soft and smooth. As the bottle states, you really should use this body oil while your skin is damp to get the best results. Make sure you leave the oil on your skin for a few seconds and then pat dry.

This body oil does absorb rather quickly and it didn't leave my skin feeling greasy and clothes weren't stained with oil. Another perk is that when I used this oil after I shaved my legs, they felt so smooth and gave my legs a beautiful glow. I like how Vitamin E is one of the ingredients in this body oil because I've noticed since I've been using this product that my skin is more even and the few acne scars that I had are disappearing. As for the smell, when I first opened the open I immediately thought this oil smells like chocolate devil's food cake. The smell isn't too over powering, but definitely noticeable.  I recommend trying Palmer's Moisturizing Body Oil if you want your skin to feel soft, smoother, and silkier.

Have you tried Palmer's Moisturizing Body Oil?

July Favorites 2015

Hello Everyone!

It's been forever since I posted a monthly  favorites post! I don't even think I've done one for this year. I guess I don't write many monthly favorites post since a lot of my favorites stay the same lol.

1. Bath and Body Works American Apple 3 Wick Candle

I love this candle it smells like a fresh crisp sweet apple and the throw is amazing!

2. Dove Deep Moisture Nourishing Body Wash

The heat and humidity has really made my skin dry this Summer, so instead of using Dove Bar Soap, I switched back to the body wash for extra moisture. Problem solved! I don't know why I'm just finding out about this 34 oz bottle of body wash. I didn't know Dove made body wash in this size!

3. Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula

Along with dry skin, I was having slight issues with the Eczema on my elbows. Thankfully I don't have Eczema too bad, but Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula helped eliminate the dryness on my elbows and soothe them at the same time. Another problem solved!

4. Missy Lynn Eyeshadow & Baked Highlighter Palette

This palette has so many gorgeous colors and it's perfect for Summer!

5. Evian Facial Spray

This is a good spray to use when refreshing makeup or if you just want to refresh your face as part of your beauty regimen.

What were some of your favorites for July?

Depression Awareness: Suicide Prevention

Hello Everyone!

I wanted to write today's post on suicide prevention since the one year death anniversary of actor and comedian Robin Williams' from suicide is coming up on August 11th. Even though it's almost been a year since his death I still find it shocking that he's gone. He provided joy and laughter for so many people through his movies, but sadly he was going through his own personal struggles.

Suicide can be an uncomfortable topic to discuss, nonetheless a topic that needs to be discussed. As I typed this post, I must admit I felt a little uncomfortable writing about such a dark topic. However, I can only hope that this post helps someone who is having a difficult time coping with life. A person who is feeling suicidal may feel that no one will understand, they will face judgment, or any other negative feelings that are typically associated with suicide. As a person who has dealt/deals with depression myself, I know how important it is to recognize my feelings of sadness when I'm going through something. It's so important to deal with your feelings, and talk with someone etc. so you don't sink deeper into depression. Depression varies from person to person, but doesn't mean all people who deal with depression will try to commit suicide or even think about suicide.

I think one of the interesting things about life is that everyone has a story. Behind some of those stories are people that may be dealing with issues that their families, friends, etc. are unaware of. This is one reason why I try to show the people in my life that I care and that I love them because as much as we think we know someone, you may not know their full story and things they are dealing with. If you know someone who is suicidal try to be there, show compassion, and not judge the person.

I have a B.A. in Psychology, but I'm not a health professional. I found a link about suicide, suicide prevention, etc.

http://www.helpguide.org/articles/suicide-prevention/suicide-prevention-helping-someone-who-is-suicidal.htm

Remember, if you're feeling suicidal, there is hope. Life may have difficulties, but nothing unpleasant last forever. You can feel happy again.

Maybelline The Blushed Nudes Palette Review

Hello Everyone!

Now that I finally got my hands on Maybelline The Blushed Nudes Palette (thanks to my wonderful mama) I can share my thoughts about the palette. I think it's kind of funny that everyone else was able to find these palettes except me! If it's a beauty product out there I can usually find it! Now on the review!

Swatches with Flash

Swatches without Flash

Pros
- Small and convenient
- Decent Pigmentation (for the darker shades and a
  few of the light shades)
- Budget Friendly
- Easy to blend
- Gorgeous shimmer and matte shades
- 2 sponge application brushes in this palette that
   work well
- Minor Fallout

 Cons
- Lacks Pigmentation (for some of the light shades)
- No Mirror

My Thoughts

This palette also has a small amount of fallout and the colors are so easy to blend. That is a major plus because I hate eyeshadow palettes that have a lot of fallout. I really have a love for this palette, but the pigmentation could be better quality. The darker shades show up well. Some of the lighter shades show up, but just like the other three Maybelline palettes I reviewed, you should use a really good eyeshadow primer. So far the only eyeshadow primers I find that works well with these palettes are the NYX Eyeshadow Base in White, and the NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk. Using white eyeshadow bases helps bring these colors out well. The color fading isn't too much of an issue for me, it's primarily the some of light shades that can have some fading after about three hours.  I really love the colors in this palette and they're so shimmery with the exception for a few matte shades which I also like. I definitely can see the resemblance between this palette and the Naked 3 palette, some of the colors are similar. I think Maybelline did an excellent job with color selection for The Blushed Nudes Palette and even if you don't like this palette, it only runs about $10.00. This palette has a few cons, but overall I was really pleased with this palette. I didn't get a chance to write the details for my makeup look using this palette for this post, but I will have that up for my next post!
