Streaming Lately

 Hello Everyone!

*Disclaimer: Descriptions and photos information are provided by google.com

Today I'm back with another streaming latey post. Last month I shared a few things that I've been watching as well. You can check out that post HERE.

Turning Red: Disney+

Mei Lee is a 13-year-old girl who is torn between being her mother's obedient daughter and the chaos of her youth. As if that were not enough, when she gets too excited, she turns into a big red panda.

My Thoughts

I thought this was cute movie about growing up and coming into oneself (except in Mei Mei case she turns into a red panda lol).

Encanto: Disney+

The Madrigals are an extraordinary family who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia in a charmed place called the Encanto. The magic of the Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift -- every child except Mirabel. However, she soon may be the Madrigals last hope when she discovers that the magic surrounding the Encanto is now in danger.

My Thoughts

I know I'm super late, but Encanto is such a good movie. It's a good family film and it's about love for ones family. The music is pretty good too.

The Power of the Dog: Netflix

A domineering rancher responds with mocking cruelty when his brother brings home a new wife and her son, until the unexpected comes to pass.

My Thoughts

I came across this a few weeks ago. I heard about this film when I watched the Oscars, and I decided to check it out. I think a lot can be learned from this movie, especially on how you treat people.

Not So Pretty: HBO Max

An investigation into the trillion-dollar cosmetics, beauty, and personal care industry, raising awareness about the dangers in everyday makeup, hair, skin-care and nail products.

My Thoughts

I just started this documentary on Sunday, but it is an eye opener. I try to be aware of any dangerous ingredients in my beauty products, but it's good to be informed. Keke Palmer's narrates this documentary.

Gaslit: Showtime

A modern take on the 1970s political Watergate scandal centreing on untold stories and forgotten characters of the time.

My Thoughts

I remember learning about Watergate during high school, but honestly I didn't find it all that interesting. I thought I would give the series a chance since I'm older and Julia Roberts is one of my favorite actresses. I actually almost forgot this series premiered last Sunday until I was looking on the guide lol.

What are you watching? Any recommendations?

Oh, I always like to hear about good movies to watch, Pilar. I watched The Miracle on Netflix the other day, and it was pretty good. Slow going, but it showed the Dad never giving up trying to find his son in the snow, and his great perseverance. I enjoyed watching the show. Thanks for the movie suggestions, Pilar. Disney shows are always delightful to watch. I don't know how many times I watched Toy Story with Mia haha.

Power of Dog sounds intense. Yes there is some scary stuff in beauty products and it is amazing how much more stuff is allowed in America then in the EU. I do want to see Gaslit. I watched Russian Doll and I really liked it.

Turning Red was fun. I have Not So Pretty on my watch list. It's really disturbing how so many ingredients that are banned elsewhere are passed as ok in the US. I think there is a lot of shadiness in the US beauty industry and there needs to be better regulations.

The only one of these I've seen is "The Power of the Dog" and I thought it was pretty good. Benedict Cumberbatch was particularly compelling in his role.

You're welcome, and thanks for sharing what you're currently watching! It sounds interesting! I felt like that about Power of the Dog. It started off a little slow, but it kept my interest through the movie. Toy Story! Mia has great taste in movies! I used to love Toy Story when I was younger. I even went to see Toy Story on Ice with my mom on Halloween when I was in the 6th grade. It was so much fun!

Power of the Dog was intense especially towards the end. I agree it is surprising that some ingredients etc. allowed in the U.S. than other places. I'm interested to see the rest of the Gaslit series. I'll have to check out Russian Doll.

I have seen The Power of the Dog and found it a bit confusing in terms of the story even if I really enjoyed the actors' performances and the beautiful photography. However, then I read more about the book and the movie started to nake more sense. I found a good review that compared the book with the movie and explained what wad left out in the book. I would like to read the book some day.

*what was left out in the movie but was in the book
