Healthy Skin Tips

Hello Everyone!

I've been meaning to get around to this topic, ever since I started blogging...healthy skin tips. This is a topic anyone can relate too. Stress, allergies, weather changes, pms symptoms etc. can sometimes cause skin issues. When my skin misbehaves or I'm just maintaining my beauty regimens, I've found these tips helpful.

Oily Skin and Breakouts

1. Use a face or body wash that is geared toward your breakout. (I know that sounds cliché) When I have a minor breakout(s) on my face I use Noxzema Triple Clean Anti- Blemish Pads. I think these Noxzema pads really deliver. They dry out acne, eliminate oily skin, and get rid of any dirt I may have on my face. I only use them as needed because the Noxzema pads tend to dry my face. I also wash my face immediately and apply Ponds Dry Skin Cream to lock in moisture.

2. If you find your skin is breaking out more than usual, the cause could be your daily habits etc. For me stress and allergies are main factors. I also try not to overload on a lot of sugar.

3. When all else fails, you may have to consult with a dermatologist to help resolve the issue.

Maintaining Healthy Skin Do's and Dont's

Do's

1. Drink plenty of water!! Water is not only good for you; its good for your skin too! I stress this tip :)

2. Try to get adequate sleep. I use the word adequate because everyone sleep habits vary. As a night owl myself I struggle with this one. This tip especially applies to your face because lack of sleep can be obvious if you have dark circles under your eye. Concealer helps, but its best to try and get rest.

3. Keep your skin clean and well moisturized. I usually moisturize my skin after I take a shower or bath. I apply lotion while my skin is semi damp so the moisture will stay locked in and keep my skin soft. Refer HERE for the products I use.

4. Exfoliate while showering or bathing. Before I shower I use a dry loofah to get rid of any dead skin cells. Then I lather the loofah well with shower gel or I use a washcloth, and I proceed with washing. However, when I'm using an exfoliating scrub for my face, I only use it once or twice so I wont over exfoliate my face.
5. Wash all the makeup off your face. Isnt tempting to crash into bed after a long day, but DONT!! lol You should face your face. Wearing makeup to bed is bad because you can possibly have a breakout by morning. In addition to a breakout, you may also have clogged pores.

Dont's

1. Don't sleep on a dirty pillowcase. Wash your pillowcases on a regular basis. This is also another way to get a breakout and have clogged pores.

2. Don't over wash your face. I've always been told you shouldnt do this. I usually wash and moisturize my face twice a day and Im good to go :)

3. Don't overload on sugar. This is yet another factor that can cause a breakout.

Well those are just a few of my do's and dont's tips for managing breakouts and maintaining healthy skin. What beauty regimen(s) do you use?

I've been really focusing on my crocheting lately :) For today's post I wanted to share a double crochet beanie hat I made. I was kinda psyched to make this hat because I haven't made a beanie before now. Overall I was pleased with the way it came out. Once I found a crocheting technique that worked for me, this project was fairly simple. I started at the rim rather than using the crown technique. I usually wear those ridged hats (crocheting support ), but I don't wear a lot of beanies. I thought it would be cool to make one to wear and add it to my upcoming fall/winter accessories :)

Keeping A Positive Attitude

Hey Everyone!

I wanted to do a quick post about going through experiences in this journey called life :) I know many of you are going back to school whether it's high school, college, grad school or even just starting a new job or experience in general try your best to go into your situation with a positive outlook :) All these situations can be frightening when going into the unknown, but someone once said there nothing to fear but fear itself. I've always felt starting a new or starting over can be a refreshing experience. It gives you a chance to do things differently, maintain or improve skills you have etc. I know it's hard to stat positive sometimes when things become difficult. We all have felt discouraged and doubtful at some point. When i feel everything is wrong, i try my best to look past all the negativity i may be thinking. Whatever you're getting ready to do in you life, major or minor challenge yourself to have the best positive attitude toward the situation :) I leave you with this, Be brave, stay strong, and keep positive :)

Fingernail Polishes Review

Hey Everybody!

Disclaimer:
My apologies for the missing pictures. My pictures were accidentally deleted off my blog. Please Refer to my Instagram account miss_pilar to view the pictures (or some of the pictures) that were deleted.

I wanted to focus today's post on another one of my favorites, fingernail polish. I'm still on a voyage to find a good brand that actually lasts lol.

Well in the mean time here are a few brands that I use

Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Hardener
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Color

As much as I love the colors I cant say these are my favorites. I dont know what has happened over the years, but its almost as if the polish doesnt wear long as it used to. I still buy these from time to time because like I said I really like the colors. This isn't a terrible brand I just have to keep retouching my nails often, sometimes the very next day. I do like the price because I've only paid between $2.50 to $3.00. The Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Hardener works really well. I haven't had any issues with it. I also paid $2.50 for this brand. Both polishes are good size bottles; Ive been able to get many uses out of them.

Milani Nail Lacquer

You probably noticed that I have these polishes in variety shades of pink, among the other colors. This has become one of my favorite brands. Ive found the polishes are fast drying and I have to retouch maybe around on the fourth day of wear. The bottles are a decent size I've been able to get many uses out them as well, and the nail brush is easy to apply to my nails. I forgot how much I paid for these, but I don't think it was over $4.00.

Maybelline New York Color Show

I just started using these about a month ago. Ive been pleased, and I like that a lot of polish colors are vibrant and intense. When I polish my nails it doesn't take too long to dry, so thats also a plus. The only things I have issues with are the size of the bottle and the brush is kind of wide. If you noticed in the picture the polish bottle is small. I haven't used a whole bottle yet, but I wish it were bigger. I paid $3.00 for these and I feel the bottle could be a little bigger for the price. Overall I like the polish and I dont have to retouch until about the fourth day.

Those are a few of the brands of polishes I use, what are some brands you find that last long or just like in general?

Pilar
