Virtual Calls and Grocery Hauls

Hello Everyone!

Since going to the grocery store has become more of a search and hope to find, lately have to break my shopping trip up in two or three weekly trips. Some trips are more successful than others, but nonetheless I'm blessed to find food.

Food Lion has been one of my go to stores. This particular day I was able to find most of what I needed in terms of food.

I haven't been able to get fresh fruit in about two and a half months, so when I saw fruit I was so happy!

I may have a slight obsession with Outshine Fruit Bars lol. They're so good, and the fruit Bars are made with real fruit. When I saw these on sale I had to get a few boxes.

Last week I had a Virtual Visit with my regular doctor.  My original appointment was scheduled for August, but since I had that issue with my arm she wanted to make sure things were ok.  The plan is to see how I'm doing in a few weeks and to let her know if anything gets worse. I may have visit an orthopedic. Since the coronavirus is going on scheduling with specialist in person may be a challenge. My hope is that I don't have any dislocation or bone fragments in my elbow. When I fell 10 years ago my X-ray didn't show any broken bones.

My doctor also asked me about how I've been feeling due to those severe nutrient deficiencies that I have. I have been tired since I haven't had a b12 shot since this pandemic started, but I'm currently looking for b12 vitamins until I can go back to my doctor for an in person visit. I looked for a bottle of B12 Vitamins when I went to pick up my prescription, but no luck.

I don't like most foods that help with iron absorption, but I do like spinach (spinach helps with iron). I was able to find spinach and a few other items during last weeks grocery trip. I wanted to try two different recipes with spinach.

Last but not least I finally found home and cleaning essentials. The shelves are still empty, but after going to 4 different stores I was able to find the supplies I needed.

Spinach works so well with pasta! I like to have a lot of spinach, I sometimes get low iron so I feel it helps with that, I notice when I haven't been eating it as much that I feel more run-down!

Hope that you do feel better soon! It's nice you were able to get some fruit! it's hard for us to get strawberries here, I'm ordering online so sometimes the store is sold out of the fresh fruit before my order is filled, but we have plenty of apples and bananas!

Hope that you are having a nice weekend :)

All the food looks delicious! I saw pineapples and watermelon last time I went to the store, but the fruit section didn't have much. You're right it's a blessing during this pandemic. Spinach goes well with pasta! Spinach, alfredo sauce, and ravioli tastes so good! I hope you feel better Pilar!

Remember that for iron to be absorbed well, it should be combined with vitamin C.

You are right, Grocery finds are hard now.
I take B12 vitamins. I get a large bottle from Sams. 5000mcg.
They are chewable and taste great.

Glad you were able to find some fruit. Things seem to be almost normal here, except for the lack of bleach and lysol. Hope you feel ok!

Pilar, I really admire you going to the store during this time we're in. I was going back at the old house, and it was such a strange time for me. Now, that I've moved, I don't know where anything is, and Nel has had groceries delivered. I'm so thankful for that. So glad you were able to find some fruit. Those strawberries and whip cream look so good. I see you're ready to make some pasta too!

Take care of yourself and stay well, Pilar. You mean a lot to me. : )

I will have to try those Outshine fruit bars. Food Lion is a few minutes from us and they usually have a decent selection of foods. I hope your elbow is ok.

Thanks Mica! I'm feeling okay, except for feeling a little tired. I hope you are doing well! This is my first time trying spinach with pasta, but I think I'm going to like it!

It's been hard getting fresh fruit and fruit in general lately, so I was happy to find what I could. Hopefully I can get bananas next time I go to the grocery store. Have a wonderful week!

Some weeks are better than others to get the groceries I need, but I feel blessed to find food :) I may have to check out Sam's because I haven't been able to find the B12 Vitamins.

Thanks Mellie! I was so happy to find fruit! Places are becoming more crowded as some the restrictions have been lifted. I only leave the house for essentials. Bleach and Lysol has been hard to find here too. I just found bleach last week.

Thanks Tanza! Have a great week!

Aww thanks Sheri! You're too sweet! You mean a lot to me too my friend :) I have been a little nervous going in the grocery store if it's crowded.

I've felt like that too, not knowing where things where when I moved into a new home. I'm glad Nel had your groceries delivered. That has to make things a little easier. Be well and stay safe :)

Food Lion has been pretty good about their food supply. Food Lion and Target usually have Outshine Fruit Bars. I try to get a few boxes when they're on sale. My elbow is feeling better!
