Anxiety and Announcement

Hello Everyone

I hate anxiety

Today's post is very hard for me to write. Friday night I spent hours in the ER due to an anxiety attack and high blood pressure.

I walked in the ER feeling completely helpless and in tears. Truth be told I was in hysterics. I felt like I couldnt breathe then I started hyperventilating. I thought I was going to throw up and pass out. The world around me became closed in and I didn't know what to do. I wrote about emotional self care a few weeks ago, and I realized that this past week I haven't been doing that.

This needle was very painful

I've shared a few of my personal struggles over the last few months. Friday night I felt like life just became too overwhelming.  The nurses were very caring and concerned, but the doctor I had was rude and uncaring. He was most concerned with the shift changing and ready to leave. He had the mental health specialist talk with me which was also not much of a help. She was very kind, but not helpful. I have a BA degree in psychology so I know how these things go. They didn't get my blood pressure down, and basically sent me on my way with a cup of water that asked for hours ago and only received when I was getting ready to leave. I felt just as badly as I did when I left the ER as I did when I first got there.

Very scary...my blood pressure was 159/123 almost stroke level

Life, people, family everything is overwhelming right now. I mean everything. My mom is always my support and I'm glad she's helping me through this difficult time. I do want to thank everyone that left me such kind words of encouragement and concern on Instagram. You're comments haven't gone unnoticed and I truly appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

I feel thankful for all my makeup clients that understand their cancellations for the upcoming week. I will be back to creating your makeup looks very soon.  As I mentioned in my 6th Blogiversary Post, I will be taking a social media break.

I took this picture in the ER, to show the realness of anxiety. Anxiety is real, depression is real. Mental health issues are real. As you can see I'm still very visibly upset. Please be kind to people. They may be going through a struggle you know nothing about...

I'm unsure of when I'll be back on social media. Maybe a week or more. Right now I'm not sure. I will be back though. I don't want to put anymore pressure on myself than I have to.

This morning I drove to Lake Murray and parked to clear my mind. I'm still having anxiety and depression, but I find peace here. Trees are supposed to symbolize a new start. So here's to new beginnings. Talk with you all soon.

Happy 6th Blogiversary to Beauty and More by Pilar!

Hello Everyone!

This week is a very special week for my blog! It's my 6th Blogiversary! My Blogiversary is actually this Saturday July 27th. I've learned so many aspects about blogging since I began this journey in 2013. Today also marks my 700th post! 6 years blogging and 700 posts...wow :)

Every year since I've started blogging has been special to me. Life has a way of throwing you curve balls that can make it difficult to finish something you've started. I've had numerous curve balls including surviving domestic violence, self doubt, depression and anxiety just to name a few. Those have been some of the few unpleasant things I've experience throughout my blogging journey so far. I've had wonderful things happen as well meeting other bloggers, collaborating with amazing companies, creating my own original content, and learning new things as I go along the way.

As I mentioned I discuss various topics on my blog, but my passion is makeup. I love creating makeup looks for myself and my makeup clients. One of this misconceptions is that you're wearing makeup to hide something. Not true, I love makeup as a form to express my creativity and my aristry.

Makeup is my passion

A lot of people in my person life don't know that I'm a blogger, but to for those people in my personal life that know I thank you for supporting and encouraging me these past 6 years. You are truly appreciated and loved! Thank you so much for the beautiful gifts! I didn't get a chance to post my gifts look for that in a later post!

I want to thank all the brands that I have worked with past and present. I appreciate you sending products, sponsoring, and valuing my opinion to share with my audience.

Last but not least, I want to thank all of you that visit, read, and comment on my posts! Your support over the past 6 years is greatly appreciated! I love you all, and God bless 💕 My schedule has been so hectic lately, so I'll probably take a week or so off social media. Talk with you all soon!

Summer Glam 2019

Hello Everyone!

Since my 6th Blogiversary is this Saturday I created a Summer Glam Makeup Look. I created this look last week.

To create my eye makeup, I used the James Charles Palette. I've been using this palette a lot to create colorful makeup. I used hot pink, burgundy, and white shadows.

It's just too hot for heavy makeup lol, so I used Loreal Match Foundation. I recently starting using this foundation a few months ago. It feels like a lightweight foundation perfect for the Summer. If anyone is interested I can post my favorite foundations to wear during the Summer. Let me know in the comments section.

Nude lipsticks are my favorite lipsticks to wear during the Summer. Nude lipsticks pair well with so many different looks. For this look I used Milani Amore Matte Lipstick in Adore.

Get to Know Me!

Hello Everyone!

Since my 6th Blogiversary is near the end of this month, I wanted to do an updated Get to Know Me post. I did one of these years ago, but I thought now would be a good time to get to know the person behind the blog:) Also today I have two posts for today! So make sure you visit the second post that I'll link near the end.

1. How old are you?

My Birthday Cake/Cupcakes from last year

33 years old, and my birthday is on Christmas

My Christmas DIY's from last year

Bath time!

I prefer baths, but I take more showers.

8. If money were no object what would you get for your next birthday?

I would probably go to a lavish spa.

9. How tall are you?

Short girl

5'5 1/2...,people tell me I look taller, but trust me it's usually hair height. Funny story when I went to the doctor last year the nurse told me I was 5'7. She added the height of my hair obviously. I got remeasured and my height is 5'5 1/2.

10. What’s one of your pet peeves?

18. What is something that people don't know about you?

I don't know how to swim, but I want to learn though.

19. Are you more like your mom or dad?

Honestly I think I'm like both my parents. I'm kind caring, and loving like my mother and I'm humorous, impatient, and stubborn like my  dad when he was alive.

20. What cheers you up?

Lake Murray at Sunset

Lately going across Lake Murray cheers me up. The view is so peaceful and beautiful. I'm usually able to clear my mind and enjoy the scenery.

Things That Make Me Happy As An Adult

Hello Everyone!

Sometimes finding things that make you happy as an adult can be challenging  Here are a few adulting things that make me happy. Also today I have two posts for today! So make sure you visit the second post that I'll link near the end.

1. Scented candles

What can I say?! I love candles. The aroma of candles can be so relaxing, and candles smell so goo!

2. Going to Target

Target is the Disney World for adults lol. In speaking of Target, I haven't been to Target in about a month! Shocking I know!

3. Couponing

Saving money is the goal. I found this wooden easel for $4.00 at Big Lots during Black Friday last year.

4. Documentaries

Who am I kidding?! I loved documentaries when I was a teenager as well. I'm perfectly fine staying in on a Saturday night watching documentaries!

5. Going to bed at a decent hour

This rarely happens, but when I go to bed early I catch up on much needed rest.

6. Waking up in the middle of the night and having hours of sleep left.

I'm grateful for hours left to sleep, especially if I have to wake up early.

7. Taking Naps

I hated naps a child, but I sure love naps as an adult.

8. Having canceled plans

Sometimes canceled plans are disappointing, but other times canceled plans are a relief.

9. Doing maintenance/handy work myself

I feel so accomplished when I assemble or fix something.

10. Spending the least time at the post office or DMV

I hate going to the post office. Customer service reps act like you're bothering them. The DMV comes in a strong second of places I dislike. The less time inside of these places, the better!

What things make you happy as an adult?

Current Beauty Wishlist

Hello Everyone!

It may be super hot and humid outside, but that doesn't stop my love of makeup lol. I don't think that I've ever done a beauty wishlist here on my blog. Today I'm going to share a few beauty items that have caught my interest.

* Images and product information are provided by urbandecay.com

Urban Decay is releasing their new Stay Naked Collection next week, and I'm want to try their whole collection! I really have my eyes on the foundation line. I'm interested that this foundation claims to last for 24 hours. I also like this foundation is vegan. (No I'm not a vegan, but I do like using vegan beauty products)

* I snapped this screenshot from Urban Decay's Instagram page for release details

It’s time to find your Naked truth. With 50 shades focused on 9 intensities, 3 mastertones, and 7 undertones, Stay Naked Weightless Liquid Foundationmakes it easy to match your true skin tone. The first vegan, breathable longwear formula to last up to 24 hours, Stay Naked has buildable medium coverage with a real-skin matte finish.

Stay Naked Correcting Concealer is a lineup of 25 shades: Our vegan formula has up to 24-hour wear, full coverage, and a real-skin matte finish. Mix the two Pro Customizers (Pure White and Pure Red) to create the perfect shade of foundation, concealer, or any complexion product.

Vice Lip Chemistry Lasting Glassy Tint is a vegan, high-gloss lip tint that reacts to your pH and tone, revealing a custom color in just a few minutes. The 12 shades are flattering on all skin tones and leave lips feeling moisturized with transfer-resistant color.

This mascara is a fairly new release. Since my real lashes are thick and long, I want to see the Damn Girl mascara will also add volume to lashes. I love a mascara that adds extra volume to my lashes. I would love to see if Damn Girl Mascara is better than Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara (which is a good mascara). I've been hearing this mascara get mixed reviews. If I get this mascara, I would probably get the travel size first.

Damn Girl’s revolutionary creamy mousse formula was developed with a special blend of whipped melting waxes that deliver an immediate full load of extreme volume without a heavy feel. Innovative polymers keep lashes flexible while lifting, lengthening, and locking-in 24 hours of smudge-and flake-resistant curl.

 32 rich, vibrant shades
 7 super-sized silk slip toppers
A mix of finishes—from sheer to glitter

Sunshine

Hello Everyone!

Sometimes in life you have to create your own sunshine.

Last week marked one year since I started going back to counseling. I mentioned back in May that I switched counselors earlier this year....which was the best decision that I've made in terms of my treatment. I'm not going to discredit all the progress I've made despite having to change counselors. A year is still a year right?

I titled this post sunshine because where there is light there is hope. Last year I felt like I was in such a dark place emotionally and thankfully I don't feel like that now. Sure I have days that I feel depressed or anxious but I don't feel like depression and anxiety is taking over my life like before. I have more clarity.

Brighter days lie ahead

Depression and anxiety are constantly battles for me. I've learned to cope better on the days that aren't so great. I've learned to let go of relationships with people that no longer serve a influential or meaningful purpose in my life. I've learned to stop feeling guilt for things beyond my control. Counseling has help me rediscover who I am.

A smile bright as the sun

I've been to counseling in the past when I was in college and just like my college days, I have to do the work in sorting out my feelings and things in my life. In life you have to step into the solution and not stay in the problem. I've done this in many areas in my life. Change takes dedication, time, and work, but in the end it's all worth it.

I think one of the misconceptions about counseling includes people go to counseling to complain about their problems or how bad their life is going etc. That's simply not always true. I've had counseling sessions where I talk about how things are going well in my life. I don't always have a problem or feel sad. Counselors are not supposed to fix your life. Counselors are there to help you find solutions to effectively live a healthy and fulfilling life. Will I stop going to counseling?...probably not. I like the progress that I've accomplished so far with taking control of my mental health. In speaking of mental health, don't forget to check out my prior post, Emotional Self Care

Emotional Self Care

Hello Everyone!

There are so many different articles and videos about self care online. Today I wanted to focus on emotional self care.

1. Dont give someone the power to emotionally destroy you.

Your mind is precious. Thoughts and feelings are very real. It's true you can't control what someone says to you, but you don't have to accept cruelty and/or disrespect either.

2. Take a day for yourself

Sleep in late, catch up on some of your favorite TV Shows, etc. When I'm feeling emotionally overwhelmed I try to take a day to rest. I noticed that watching a comedy on TV truly helps relieves stress. Laugh more!

3. Set and maintain healthy boundaries

In my opinion boundaries pave the way for how you how you deal will with things in life. You have to know when to say no, don't let others manipulate you, and know your own limitations as well.

4. Focus on healthy relationships and support systems

You will have various with relationships throughout your life such as family, friends, and romantic relationships. It's so important that you maintain healthy relationships. Toxic relationships are emotionally, physically, and mentally draining.
Think about it like this, why would you want to have someone in your life that doesn't support or inspire you? I'm not perfect, but I try to treat others they way I want to be treated, and I take accountability for my actions.

5. Set an emotionally healthy environment

Over the years I've learned if I'm not in an emotionally healthy state, then the world around me tends to become overwhelming and even chaotic. I try to maintain a peaceful environment.
