January Favorites 2014!!

Hello Everyone!

Disclaimer:
My apologies for the missing pictures. My pictures were accidentally deleted off my blog. Please Refer to my Instagram account miss_pilar to view the pictures (or some of the pictures) that were deleted.

It's time for monthly favorites!  I'm so proud of myself that I'm actually getting this post done on time! :) Hopefully I can post more monthly favorites this year than I did last year.
I may not have a post for every month, but I guess I'll have to see when the time comes! lol

Cetaphil Daily Cleanser and Ponds Dry Cream

I have been using these products lately. I use them both on a regular basis, but I have a small break out on my cheek and using the Cetaphil Daily Cleanser and the Ponds Dry Cream has helped clear most of my breakout. It should be gone soon :)

Urban Decay Naked 2 and Naked 3 Palettes

I absolutely adore both of these pallets!  Both have beautiful colors for creating simple everyday looks or soft romantic looks. I've only had both for a little over a month, but I had to put these pallets on my favorites list for this month.

Revlon Lip Butter (Berry Smoothie) and EOS Lip Balm (Summer Fruit)

I've been really wearing Revlon's Berry Smoothie a lot. I just think it's a really pretty pink color and I can incorporate it with many of my makeup looks. I'm also always wearing my EOS Lip Balm since it has been really cold lately and it's a great lip moisturizer. Passion Fruit is my favorite!

They're Real Mascara by Benefit Cosmestics

I got this part as a free birthday gift last month from Sephora, and I'm glad I got a chance to try it out! This is a very good mascara and very voluminous on my eyelashes. I will likely purchase the larger size sometime in the future.

Those are my favorites for January 2014, have you tired any of these products? What are your favorite products for this month?

Healthy Skin Tips: Winter Edition

Hello Everyone!

Now that Winter is in full swing, I wanted to write a follow up post in addition to my last Healthy Skin Tips post that I wrote last Summer. Keeping your skin healthy is important all year round, but especially during these frigid months since it’s been super cold outside recently!!

1. Hydration, Hydration, Hydration!

This tip is so important! Since cold weather tends to be drying to the skin, you should use a lotion that will keep your skin hydrated. In addition to that I always keep a small size of Nivea lotion in my purse so I can protect my skin while I’m out incase I need it and just in general.

2. In Speaking of Hydration…

Don’t neglect your lips! This is a must for me! Once again cold weather and dry lips don’t mix. I rarely have dry lips because I keep lip moisturizers on hand. I also use lip moisturizers before I go bed to keep my lips hydrated during the night. Also, don't foget to exfoliate your lips!

Nivea, Palmer's, Vaseline and EOS are  a few of my favorites lip moisturizers.

3. Loofah Time!

In addition to using washcloths I also use loofah’s I love them lol These are so good to use all year round because loofah’s exfoliate your skin. When I go shopping, I usually buy a few at a time so I’ll always have them around.

I didn’t write a long list of tips because like I mentioned I wrote a list over the Summer Click Here to view the rest of my list. How are you keeping your skin healthy during the Winter months?

5 Beauty Things I Won’t Apologize For Tag

Hello Everyone!

I've been seeing this tag going around lately and it caught my interest, so I completed this tag!

1. Shopping at Victoria’s Secret. I absolutely love this store, plain and simple! When I need retail therapy this is one of my go to stores. I mean you can buy beauty and bath products, underwear, and not to mention their various sales etc. I know VS can be pretty pricey at times, but I still love shopping at this store. Btw, I will be posting my VS Semi Annual Sale Haul very soon!

2. Owning a crazy amount of body wash, bubble bath, and loofahs. I find shower or bath time one of the most relaxing parts of my day, so of course I’m going to pamper myself with bath items. The body wash and bubble bath products smell so good!

3. Taking my time to get ready. I’m such a girly girl. I have to prepare my outfit, shower, do my hair, and makeup. These things take time! However, I try to do these things early so I will have enough time to get to where I need to be. I just don’t like to be rushed.

4. Not contouring my face. I know this is a must for some people, but I don’t really do this. Even if I have an important event or just want to look extra special. My makeup will still look very nice without contouring my face :)

5. My nail polish collection. Yes, I’m one of those females who owns a good bit of nail polish. I polish my nails often and I like to have variety.

Combating Against Maladaptive Thinking/ Keeping A Positive Jar

Hello Everyone!

Since it’s the still the start of the New Year, I wanted to write a post on combating against maladaptive thinking. That term really takes me back to the days I was working toward my Psychology degree because we discussed it various times in the courses I took!

What is maladaptive thinking?

Well, maladaptive thinking is described in many different forms. The way I describe it is a constant negative pattern of thinking that can cause irrational beliefs.

Examples:

1. “I’m not good enough”
2. “Everyone dislikes me”

If you’ve read my other inspirational posts in the past, you already know that I’ve mentioned that as people, we can’t be positive or happy 100% of the time. At some point in life everyone will have negative emotions about something or another. That’s just a part of life, but those negative emotions become a problem when maladaptive thinking becomes your entire life.

Here are a few tips that have been known to help reduce maladaptive thinking

1. Think about all the things you do well
2. Exercise (release of endorphins which promotes happy feelings)
3. Talk to supportive people in your life. i.e. a trusted friend or a counselor
4. Medication. Even with positive changes, you may need medication to help control your thoughts. Sometimes people suffer from a chemical imbalance they are unaware that they have so discuss symptoms and treatment options with your doctor.

The 2014 Positive Jar

Last but not least, I’ve been seeing a lot of people use a jar to fill all the positive events that will occur this year. By the end of the year I hope to reflect on wonderful memories. Will you have a positive jar for 2014?

I’m using my snowflake Jar :)

Winter Wonderland Nails

Hello Everyone!

Disclaimer:
My apologies for the missing pictures. My pictures were accidentally deleted off my blog. Please Refer to my Instagram account miss_pilar to view the pictures (or some of the pictures) that were deleted.

I didn't get to do Manicure Monday this week, so I'm just going to do a post on some lighter colors I've been wearing for Winter.

All colors are by Sinful Colors Professional

Tokyo Pearl

This is a really pretty color. I really love wearing this color, it has an icy look to it.

Pink Glass

Now I can't talk about lighter colors for Winter and leave out some shade of pink lol. This color is a soft pink that I also think is really pretty.

Moss Have

This color reminds me of "Out of This World" except the color is slightly darker. I think this color is a nice addition to my collection.

Naked 3 Review and Eye Makeup Look

Hello Everyone!

Disclaimer:
My apologies for the missing pictures. My pictures were accidentally deleted off my blog. Please Refer to my Instagram account miss_pilar to view the pictures (or some of the pictures) that were deleted.

Today, I'm starting the first post of my gifts I received.  I'm going to begin with Naked 3 by Urban Decay. Ok I will admit I was on the fence about this palette at first. However after seeing the beautiful colors, I just couldn't resist lol. I know there are many reviews out there about the Naked 3 palette, so I won't write a long tedious review, I'll try to keep it basic :)

My First Impressions:

-Beautiful colors
-Shimmery
-Can create many different looks
- I love this palette, absolutely no complaints!

Overall Thoughts:

If you're a person who loves pink and shimmery colors, I would definitely recommend that you purchase Naked 3. This palette truly delivers rose gold colors. All the colors aren't shimmery, so you can create many different looks without using the shimmery eye shadows. If you have this palette and you're still undecided about you feel, try creating different looks with it. I've seen so many gorgeous eye makeup looks using this palette on blogger and YouTube.

Here is a eye makeup look using Naked 3 (I used dust and trick for the lid and limit for the crease)

I closed my eyes to show the eyeshadow better because of the lighting.

Today is my mama's birthday!! I'm glad she enjoying her special day! I always thought it was kinda cool that my mom's birthday is always exactly two weeks to date after mine. I always know the day her birthday is on! Happy Birthday Mama!!!!! : ) I love you ♥

Gifts I Received For My Birthday and Christmas :)

Hello Everyone!

Disclaimer:
My apologies for the missing pictures. My pictures were accidentally deleted off my blog. Please Refer to my Instagram account miss_pilar to view the pictures (or some of the pictures) that were deleted.

I know I’m posting this a little late, but as I mentioned in Reflections 2013: My Year In Review post, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a great start to the New Year! My Christmas/Birthday was magnificent :) My day was filled with happiness, texts, phone calls etc. I spent the day with my mom and she cooked a dinner of my favorite foods for my birthday. It was a pretty laid back day. I felt so blessed to celebrate my 28th birthday on Christmas Day and to see another year!

Now on the Birthday/Christmas goodies!

You’re going to notice that most of my gifts are beauty related. I needed and I wanted to try some new items. I’m currently in the processes of reorganizing my makeup storage. I want to thank the people who I"m mentioning in this post that got me these beautiful gifts, and helped me celebrate my special day!

From My Mom

- Urban Decay Vice 2 (Birthday)
- Urban Decay Naked Palette (Christmas)
- Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette (Birthday)
- Sephora Rose Gold Brush Set (Birthday)
- Mirror (Christmas)
- Snowflake Mason Jar (Christmas)

Birthday gift from Sephora

Items that came with the palettes and free gift items that came with purchase

I love this amazing lady so much! She is always so thoughtful, loving, and giving. She is the best and I appreciate her so much! I love all these wonderful gifts!

From My Best Friend

- Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette

He is so amazing to get this from Sephora! I was happy to see that bag :) I know that he and most guys don’t understand the awesomeness of receiving makeup lol, but he gives great gifts!!

From My Other Best Friend

- Muji Acrylic Drawers (2 large drawers and 5 drawers)

I’m so glad that my other best friend got me these drawers to reorganize my makeup! She is so awesome! I barely could contain my excitement when the FedEx man knocked at the door! lol I can’t wait to reorganize my makeup collection! She gives great gifts too!

I want to thank my mom and my two best friends once again for making my special day wonderful. I truly appreciate everything they have done for me. Even if I didn’t receive one gift, that’s not the meaning of Christmas/Birthdays. The true meaning of holidays and birthdays are spending it with the one’s you love and care about. So for that I am truly grateful to have them in my life! I love them so much!!

Now for the birthday gifts I bought for myself (My Birthday Haul)

- theBalm Palette
- Lorac Pro Palette
- Avon Goodies
   - Ultra Color Lipsticks
   - Makeup Brushes
   - Lip Liner Pencils
- Victoria’s Secret Holographic Limited Edition Train Case 2013
- Victoria’s Secret Holographic Makeup Bag
- BH Cosmetics 120 Color Palette 1st Edition and 7 count makeup brushes set
- An Infinity Scarf I made for myself

I took the pictures with the flash on camera to give the true color of the Victoria's Secret items

Top Compartment of VS train case

Bottom Compartment of VS train case

Ok I know I splurged a little on myself lol What better way to celebrate my special day than to treat myself to some items :) Besides, I everyone should take time out to treat themselves once in a while. Side Note: If you get the Victoria’s Secret Holographic Train Case, be careful with the zipper :) and the item’s are currently on discount for the Semi Annual Sale online and in stores.

I'll be writing a good bit of reviews on my gifts in future posts!

Thanks for stopping by to read how I spent Christmas/Birthday :) Once again I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season!

Happy New Year 2014!! My Positive Lifestyle Changes

Happy New Year Everyone!!

I hope that everyone is having a fabulous start for the new year so far! Now that 2014 is officially here it's time for New Year Resolutions...I know very cliché lol. I really don't use the term New Year's Resolutions, personally I use the phrase positive lifestyle changes. Every year I try to maintain a postive lifestyle or add elements in my life to main my overall wellbeing etc. I think it's important not to over stress trying to make changes all at once. Rome wasn't built in a day...same applies with changing your lifestyle. Be dedicated, but not overzealous, all you can do is try your best :)

Here's My List So Far...

1. Go to Church more
2. Get more sleep and rest
3. Workout and eat more healthier
4. Continue my search for a job more related to my psychology degree.
5. Learn to take some time out for myself

Those are just a few of my positive lifestyle changes for 2014. Are you planning on making any changes for the new year?

Pilar

The Holidays are Coming!

Hello Everyone! It's that time of year again! We're almost at the holiday season. I said almost because Thanksgiving isn't here ...
