Drugstore (CVS)/Walmart Mini Haul

So I've been absent a few days bc I've been a little under the weather with the season changing to Fall...The joy of having allergies and sinuses...NOT! lol Well anyway I've also been focusing my time on working on a new Afghan and I can't wait to show you all :)

Now on to today's post my current mini haul. I went to Walmart and CVS the other day and picked up a few items.

 

1. Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser for normal to oily skin

 

You probably have noticed I've been using Cetaphil products lately, and they're great! This isn't a new product for me I just started using it again to switch things up.

2. Dial Coconut Water & Bamboo Leaf Extract Ultra Fresh Hydrating Body Wash

 

This is another product thats not new for me lol I mentioned this in product in my Bath/Beauty products post. Since I'm running low, I just bought a new bottle.

3. Almay Color + Care Liquid Lip Balm (Pink Pout)

 

Ok, I'm still undecided how I feel about this product. I like that the lip balm is very hydrating on my lips. The lip balm smells really nice, to me it smells like cocoa butter or a cookie. I also really like the color, however the color isn't very pigmented. I feel like I had to keep re-applying just to make the color more noticeable. I'm not too disappointed since it didn't cost that much. I'm going to wear the lip balm, but for now im undecided if I'll repurchase.


4. Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss (Berry Allure)

 

 

I actually didn't pick this out. Remember I mentioned I was under the weather with allergies...well my mom was at CVS the other day, and got me me lip gloss and a Cosmo magazine. Wasn't that sweet of her :) I've never tried this color before, but when I tried it I loved it! It's not too dark and it's a perfect color for Fall. This color is really pigmented, and hydrating. It's also long lasting, I only re-applied once. Another plus is that its by Revlon and I love their products! As for the Cosmo magazine she just got it for me since it's my favorite magazine lol

 

Germ X Atomic Apple Hand Sanitizer

 

This smells really good and it keeps the germs away! Enough said lol :)

There you have it my mini haul. I also purchased about 6 rolls of yarn for my Afghan. I'm not going to show the colors until I finish my project, be on the lookout for that :)

Crocheting Project: Half Double Crochet Fingerless Gloves

Hey Everyone!

Well in my last crocheting post, I mentioned about starting an Afghan...no worries I started on it Tuesday :) First I wanted to take a little detour and make another one of "my first" projects...fingerless gloves. I've been crocheting like crazy lately!! Well back to the fingerless gloves. They were really easy to make, and it didn't take me long at all to make these gloves. The lovely thing about this project is that I used some of my scrap yarn to make the gloves...what a wonderful way to use scrap yarn!

In addition to crocheting, I put my sewing skills to use to sew on on the light blue borders. I guess this was a two in one kind of project lol!

By using the half double crochet pattern the gloves are thick, warm, and very roomy.

With Fall approaching soon, I wanted to share a few items from Estée Lauder that I like. I got this makeup set on sale a while ago. I'm not going to show everything since some of my items that came in the makeup case, I've ran out of lol. Here are some of my perfect colors for Fall :)

Crocheting Project: Ribbed Hat and Horizontal Ribbed Scarf with fringe

I've been in kind of a funk the last few days, so to try and take my mind of things I did the one thing that I love... crocheting.  Since the start of Fall is coming up this weekend, what better way to bring in a new season with a new scarf and hat set. I really hope the South has a cooler fall and winter this year lol.

I actually started the hat last weekend and worked throughout this week on both projects. I did both projects in a ribbed crochet pattern. I really enjoyed making these items since pink is my favorite color.

Hair Care Products: Part 2 Review ORS: with Olive Oil Creamy Aloe Shampoo and Deep Penetrating Conditioner

As promised, here's my review on ORS (formerly Organic Root Stimulator) products. After reading about the products and trying it out for myself, I was happy that I decided to purchase the shampoo and conditioner.  

ORS: Organic Root Stimulator with Olive Oil Creamy Aloe Shampoo

 

I like that the shampoo leaves my hair feeling moisturized during use and after I rinse it out. The shampoo lathers really well which is a plus, so I won't feel like like I'm always buying a new bottle lol. Another plus is that the shampoo leaves me hair tangle free and really soft after use.

ORS: Organic Root Stimulator with Olive Oil Deep Penetrating Conditioner Replenishing Pak

 

The conditioner works just as well as the shampoo does. The only thing is that I wish it came in a bottle instead of these packets (If it does come in a bottle I didn't see any available in Walmart lol) I use one pack to condition my hair. I also bought a few packs so I would have them in advance. Since I didn't sit under a dryer, I put a shower cap on my hair with the conditioner in and let it sit for 45 minutes. After washing it out, my hair was still soft and tangle free.

Overall I like the ORS products I purchased. I find that the products I use that contain olive oil really help my hair stay hydrated. I'll will be using these products for a while :)

Hair Care Products: Part 1

I want to focus today's post on my hair care products.  I usually try to wash my hair twice a week (the beginning of the week, and the end of the week) Right now I'm wearing my hair in an afro, so keeping my hair shampooed, conditioned, and moisturized helps prevents dryness.  My hair is thick, curly, and frizzy so I try my best to manage my hair especially during the spring and summer months…heat tends to make my hair go crazy!

Motions Lavish Conditioning Shampoo and Motions Moisture Plus Conditioner

 

 

I've been an avid user of Motions Hair Products for a few years. Since my hair is frizzy, I look for shampoos, and conditioners that won't make my hair dry. Both products work well on my hair.

BB Olive Oil with Shea Butter & UV Protection Hair Strengthener

 

After I shampoo and condition my hair, I pat my hair dry with a towel and let my hair air dry. I try not to use a blow dryer (unless I'm in a rush or being a little impatient for my hair to dry) because it adds more frizz to my hair.  While my hair is damp, I use BB Olive Oil hair moisturizer on my hair.  I use this a few times a week mainly at night, and wrap my hair up with a sheer scarf to lock in the moisture in my hair. By morning my hair is soft and shiny but not greasy.

Motions Oil Sheen & Conditioner Spray

 

When I don't use the BB Olive Oil Hair Strengthener, I use this hairspray by Motions. This is probably my favorite hairspray. Like the rest of the hair products I use, this hairspray also smells amazing! It keeps my hair looking fresh and shiny.  I like that both the hairspray and hair strengthener give my hair a shine without leaving my hair greasy.  

Overall, these products meet the basic needs for my hair without being expensive. Look out for my upcoming post and review about Organic Root Stimulator with Olive Oil Creamy Aloe Shampoo and Deep Penetrating Conditioner. These are two hair care products I've been wanting to try.

BH Cosmetics Mini Haul and Review

I wanted to do a quick review on some makeup bags I bought from BH Cosmetics. This was my first purchase from BH Cosmetics. I figured I would start off with something small, so I bought a few cosmetic bags. Overall I'm pleased with my selctions. The prices were very reasonable and with a 10% discount, I saved even more on my items lol.


The round cosmetics pouch is slightly smaller than I expected, but roomy.

 

The travel bag is also roomy and it can be used for regular makeup bag. This bag will fit perfectly in many of my purses.

 

I'll probably use the pink beauty bag for things like lotion, hand sanitizer etc. this bag also has many uses.

 

I also wanted to ask my followers and readers, has anyone puchased BH Cosmetics eye shadows palettes? I was thinking about purchasing an eye shadows pallete and I wanted some opinions about the brand.

I don't tweeze my eyebrows much. They're pretty manageable.

2. Is washing your makeup brushes something you do regularly?
Yes, I haven't worn makeup this summer, but normally I usually clean them every Sunday night so they will be dry by morning.

3. How long will you last with chipped nail varnish?
 Not very long, I have to retouch the polish

4. How long do you put off buying/replacing a beauty or nail polish product even if you need it (i.e. - top coat,foundation, etc.)?
Not long lol if it's a product I use a lot sometimes I'll buy a duplicate.

5. What is your worst beauty habit?
I don't enough sleep.

6. Name something non-beauty related that you put off all the time.
Working out, I plan on making that apart of my agenda this fall.

7. When going out somewhere, do you leave getting ready until the last minute or not?
Never!  I have to have time to get ready.

8. Can you commit to spending bans?
Yes, I have self restraint.

9. How organized is your makeup and nail polish collections?
Nail polish collection...very organized  Makeup... is so so I want to be more organized, but I can find what I need.

10. What is the longest time you've gone without writing a blog post?
Maybe about 5 days. I try to post on regular basis.

I'm unsure, but I know I put in a good amount of time :)

There's no pressure.

I don't comb my hair everyday..I comb it every other day, but lately I've been combing it everyday.

Since I didn't get around to it until now, I wanted to combine my Summer/August favorite items.

Summer Favorites

Old Navy Neutral Strip Printed Flip Flops

 

I had to have these! I usually get my flip flops online from Old Navy. Buying online saves me the frustration of the flips selling out or not having the color I want. I love glitter on them. Even though it is September, I probably will get around to wearing these before it gets cool. Based on the heat and humidity I should have time lol.

Black Hinge Wallet

 

 

I love these types of wallets! I think they're so cute! The only thing is that I rarely see them in stores or they sell out quickly. I actually bought this offline. I ordered a teal color as well, but the company notified me it was out of stock.

Avon Bubble Delight (Sensitive Skin) Bubble Bath

 

When Avon has a special on bubble bath, I try to stock up. The smell of the bubble bath is lovely, and it doesnt take much to add in the bubble bath water to get a tub full of suds.

August Favorites

I didn't do a whole lot of shopping during August since I had a terrible cold and a sinus infection. I'll just review two items that I like and find useful.

Spoiled by Wet n Wild

 

I picked this item up a few weeks ago. I like to have clear polish around at all times to use a base coat and a top coat. I'm pleased with it so far and the price was reasonable around $2.00.

Cetaphil Gentle Cleansing Antibacterial Bar

 

 

In my opinion, this is an awesome product! I've been using this since I was a teenager. I should have mentioned product this in my Healthy Skin Tips post because using this soap can also help prevent and clear up breakouts. Even if you don't have skin issues, you can just use Cetaphil for a basic soap when you wash. You can also use the soap for face. I like that I can use the soap for either my face and/or washing in general. This is of the best soaps I've ever used so far in my life! I also recommend trying out Cetaphil's other products lotions, cleansers, etc.

Self Respect and Self Esteem

Hello Everyone!

I realized that I haven't written an inspirational post lately, so today I want to focus on self respect and self esteem. Self Respect is defined as: due respect for oneself, ones character, and ones conduct. I've always felt that self respect can highly affect ones self esteem and vise versa. If you think about it, they go hand in hand. I think that in order to have self respect for yourself, a person must love oneself. Even if you're going through a difficult time in your life, you have to value yourself. When a person doesn't love and value themselves the ugliness of negative self esteem occurs.

Negative self esteem usually comes from maladaptive thoughts i.e. "I hate the way I look" or "I'm not good enough" etc. We all have insecurities, but continuously dwelling on them can lead to negative results. Another reason for low self esteem, is due to negative outside influences. I've noticed that teenage girls sometimes struggle with this. However, anyone at any age can struggle with low self esteem. You should never let anyone affect the way you feel about yourself. Whether if it's a guy you're dating turns out to be a jerk, a friend who tries to get you in trouble, or whatever the reason may be, don't let anyone or anything make you feel devalued because in the end it's not worth it. In a nutshell know that you are special and always value yourself.

Crocheting Project: Half Double Crochet Ribbed Scarf with Fringe

Here's my latest addition to my scarves that I've already posted: a half double crochet ribbed scarf with fringe. I worked on this throughout Labor Day weekend and I finished on Labor Day. To give it a little flare, I added three rows of square holes before I fringed the scarf. Since it's ribbed the scarf feels super warm. Click crocheting support to view the matching hat :)

I'm actually glad September is here! I'm hoping that it will get cooler soon or at least not as humid. The south has been a real scorcher this year (that's ALWAYS how it is lol) Well enough of my little rant about the heat and on to my post of the day eyeshadow. This is probably one of favorite makeup product tied with lipsticks and lip glosses :) I have a confession...since it's been so hot I rarely wore any makeup during the spring and summer. I didn't want to melt because of the heat, so I just kept things simple with lip gloss or lipstick. I usually don't wear a lot of makeup all the time but I still love to wear it in general. I welcome the cooler weather so I can get back to wearing it like I want. Here are some of my favorite brands of eyeshadow I love to wear! What are some of your favorite eyeshadow brands?

Beaded Jewelry Projects

Hey everyone!

I wanted to share with you all some of my beaded jewelry work. I did these beading projects back in March and April of this year. I love wearing beaded jewelry and they go so well with maxi dresses among various other outfits I have. They can be worn any time of the year :)
